My apologies this isn't automotive-related.

I inherited this tool from my Father when he passed away. I've been calling it a 'wrecking bar', but I don't think that's correct.

What is the correct name for it and WIW?

I don't have it here next to me, but I think it weighs around 25lbs, is 54" long, and is at least 40 yrs old.

Anyone?

Thanks!

I first saw those watching others repair railroad tracks after derailments.

When I helped clean out my 90 lb, 4’10”” grandmother’s garden shed I noticed she had one for planting.

A few weeks ago I helped my older sister do some planting in the soil of the rocky shore of Lake Cumberland where I was swinging a pick.
I thought to myself: I need to get her a Lining Bar to keep here at the cabin.
It is a better tool for selectively getting around rocks.

As luck would have it, Deer made short work of what we planted.

“Shipp Laurel” was cross bred to create a taste that deer do not like.
More such plants are needed.

According to FB keyboard warriors even that is too high. I’m beginning to think I should have just dumped it with rest of my scrap metal.

Yep, heat the sharp end and put a slight bend to it and it can be used to "walk" heavy machines.

Doesn't take up much room. Just stand it up in the corner cause you know about a week after you get rid of it you'll need one.

That's kinda the problem, it has been standing in a corner since 2011. Come Sept, I'll have no more corners to stand it in, so it needs to go. frown

May dad's (now mine) was always called the railroad bar, probably because the crew working on the tracks next to his shop left it out one night... Back when he ran demolition derbies all summer, it was one of the most useful tools between heats and to get the residue loaded on the trailer at the end of the night. A piece of wooden guardrail post 12" long with a small notch cut in one corner is a handy accessory to go with it.

We always called it a "Jimmy Bar" because we used it to maneuver large pieces of equipment around on skates (air handlers, chillers, etc.)

"Jimmy it into place", etc.

Imagine it's a regional thing...?
