I have purchased a mini starter to use with my 360 magnum/ 904 combo. The starter is a late model dodge stater from AutoZ***. I dont know why, but it just does not seem to fit. The nose of the starter does not even reach the pilot in the trans case. Are their more then one style of mini stater? If yes, then what is the best year and model vehicle to use. I need to get a starter locally. Im trying to get it finished, so I can take it to Ocean City for the car cruise. Thanks for any help in advance.

Do you have one that fit before?

Maybe measure or side by side compare the snout and see if the dimensions are the same.

The mini starter has to be from a 3.9 (V6), 5.2 (318), or 5.9 (360) truck. The front wheel drive engine starters won't fit.

By my recollection, the nose does not go in the pilot of the trans . It only has to match up with the two bolts and fit flush to the case. The starter you need is for an application like the 318/360 from about 1990 up.

I bought a new mini starter on ebay and the guy swore it would fit my small block but the nose wouldn`t go into the recess in the bell housing. I measured it and compared it to the old one. It was a a little too big. He sent me another one and that one fit.

And 3.9 V6. this engine is a 318 based engine.
Yes the nose goes into the pilot. This is helps give the starter support while starting, keeping it in alignment.
