I may have discussed this before I really cannot remember for sure forgive me if this has already been discussed . I am currently using Lucas racing oil which has the highest concentration of zinc available. My engine builder is recommending that I use Brad penn racing oil. I have not been using methanol long enough to be able to tell for sure if my Oil selection is going to be okay. But I have been told that synthetic oil is not compatible with Methanol. brad penn oil and Lucas racing oil are both semi synthetic. There are some very good conventional racing oils like driven and valvoline I am wondering what conventional wisdom is on this?

I have been using Lucas and Brad Penn (straight 70wgt) in my blown alc motor and I am happy with both...

Alcohol lacks even the minimal lubricant properties of petroleum fuel, it's very "dry".
Consider using Klotz KL-106 “Uplon”.

Synthetic not being compatible with alky is not true. Been running full synthetic for years on alky. Your tuneup, crank case evacuation system and engine temp is the key to not having moisture contaminated oil. I run alky injection and could run my car all year on a single oil change. We don't even have to drain the breather. If you are too fat on the tuneup, don't run the engine hot enough or don't have adequate crankcase evacuation you will milk the oil.

I run the red label "Nascar" 15W50 Mobil 1 that Walmart sells in my car at 800+hp

I have only made a few passes so far . I have been staging the car at 160 and when I drive back to the Trailer It's on About 175 . I do have a lean out valve so I can get the heat up in the engine pretty quick. So far I have no problem with milking the oil. I guess I am only asking because I don't want to have any Lubrication problems in the future. It is a pro system's carb and I think the tune up is pretty close on it. At the end of the night I run the alcohol carb dry and pump the accelerator pumps out. I take a bulb syringe and fill the carb up with gas crank it up and let it run a few seconds on that that is pretty much my end of the night routine so far.

Good plan. Oil and alky don't mix, so if it is staying clear, you are doing fine. That also means less oil changes for the oil, as it isn't getting messed up with gasoline. You can run synthetic, and due to the heat it might be a good idea, but I haven't in years.

I have been running methanol with carb for 10 years .
Mobil 1 20/50 older vehicle formula. I change the oil every 25-30 passes . Looks like new . I use a top lube .
Get that engine hotter than 175 before each shut down . I let it run up to 200. End of the day I fog it it with wd 40 in a spray bottle and I spray some down each bowl vent tube .

If you are milking the oil it’s a tune up issue or you’re shutting off too cold .

Also I have been told that a proper tune up will gain 10-15 degrees during the pass . Mine never does . I launch at 180 and sometimes gains 5 degrees.

There are Group III, IV and V synthetic base oils. Only Group III base oils are alcohol compatible. Brad Penn uses Group III base oil. It’s alcohol friendly.
