The last Challenger was made when the 1974 model year was over.

rolleyes

While the modern challenger isnt perfect, its the best challenger they could make with the cards they had. They could (and should) make an even better one with a more appropriate platform

The new Challenger’s are capable of smoking any of the stock first generation/ old Challenger’s in every way.
They are faster, handle better and get gas mileage that the old ones couldn’t even dream of.
They’re faster than most of the modified ones too other than some all out race ars.
They give you the looks of the originals in a modern car.
Are they a vintage classic? No, but they do everything better.

At least they’re not a sad mouth 72-74 in appearance. lol

Challengers never ever had a,header panel, Barracuda did.
It's stupid. And still say its far chick looking.
The quarters are all wrong as well. The real Challengers dip in above the body line the new ones go out like a balloon. And Chargers with 4 doors come on man.

As I said, they could make them even better with a dedicated platform. I think it sits too high, body is too tall like a bathtub, the older 6 cyl cars looked like they were up on stilts. Challenger is also just as big/long as the charger when parked side by side. Knowing now that its a 100K unit sales per year cash cow (and the charger) they should make a dedicated platform for them and really get them right. Make them both coupes and then also make a generic 4 door as well for the cops, rental car agencies and taxi companies

I have both. A 70' and a 12'. I like them both for different reasons. While the newer Challengers are porky. They are quite, comfortable, safer, pretty quiick and get great mileage. I would buy another. A B5 H.C. if I could afford one. I for one am sad to see them go along with the 3rd Gen Hemi's.

1963 Belvedere 440 Max Wedge Tribute
1970 Charger R/T S.E. 440 Six Pack
1970 Challenger R/T, 528 Hemi

1970 Plymouth Road Runner 383
1974 Chrysler New Yorker 440
1996 2500 RAM 488 V-10 4X4

All the people who have bought the late model Chargers and Challengers which have FAR outsold the vintage stuff prove that those things you list don't matter to anyone but a small few who live in the past.

Guess what as stated they're a modern version of a car that they quit building 50 years ago.
Car companies quit using chrome, stainless, anodized trim 30+ years ago.

Time to quit living in the 70's, the world moved on.
You probably still listen to nothing but 70's music too. laugh2
You've also got me wondering how long the ride was for you on that short bus.
That would explain a lot.

There's nothing wrong with the vintage stuff, but there's more than just that out there.

We've got cars from the 50's through 2010 and guess what?
The newer stuff are actually waaaay better cars.

If you don't like the newer stuff that's you prerogative, but it's you that are missing out.
They're really nice cars that are a blast to drive, which is something that people quit doing in the old stuff because all they worry about is investment value.

ALOT of people bought that car BECAUSE it has 4 doors. Numbers don't lie. They just need to change the names to Savoy and Belvedere. laugh2

I love my '67 B-bodies but there is no denying when you are driving and look at the dash......they are crude cars by today's standards.

More likely Coronet than those two since they were Plymouth's which is a brand that had been gone for 23 years now. whistling

They use names because of name recognition, they do it to sell cars.
They are in the car manufacturing and selling business after all. laugh2

No real attempt was made to have it look right. It was a 50 footer.
Could have at least did some chrome look bumpers, window trim had it without a header panel.
It was and is a squint at 50 feet looks like one car.

Do you really think that they would make it an exact copy of what was at the time a 40 year old car when the modern version came out????? laugh2 laugh2 laugh2

You really can't be serious. laugh2

1970 was 53 years ago.....

Hey why not built a new exact version of the Model T while we're at it. laugh2
I'm sure that there are a couple thousand people who would want one, which would make it really profitable. laugh2
The fact that you couldn't license it means nothing.

The sales figures prove that most people like the new versions.

I guess some people will never understand that they're new versions of an old car, not exact copies.

I don' like cars with catalytic converters.

And cars with AC.

For me automobile production stopped in the mid seventies.

But then: It is only my taste

iagree I own a newer Dodge Challenger. They are awesome cars. I love E-Body Challengers, but the LX/LC Challenger is a much better car.

Classic Mopar Muscle cars have turned into expensive investment properties that are out of reach for many Mopar enthusiasts. frown

Why buy a fully restored 1968-1971 B-Body or 1970-1971 E-Body when you can get a new Challenger Scat Pack or SRT Hellcat for the same, or less money? twocents
