Thanks for the heads up. Neither Vacation, nor Christine is playing near me, but American Graffiti, will be playing at my local theater on August 27th. I'll be there.

40 years - where did the time go...?
Back in my "Hollywood days", one of the actors was part of our group of musician & film friends.
He's the guy - Steven Tash by name - who flips off Arnie & Christine prior to getting killed.
We got a good laugh out of that, and would tease him with re-enactments thereafter.
The post-premier party was at the Hard Rock Cafe, and it was enough fun that I can't recall much of it laugh2

Of those films, Graffiti's my favorite - even the sequel was pretty good, largely for the dragstrip stuff.

I agree - I really liked the sequel as well.

I remember as a 13 year old boy how scary the muscular villain Buddy Rapperton was. And a high school senior none the less! Even now in my 50s I see him in the movie and think holy-S@#!.... that guy is still big and scary. A mean muscular bully version of John Travolta!

When dude came to carlisle, he looked exactly the same but with gray hair and much larger arms.

TV and movies ALWAYS cast older people as high school students. When I was a senior in HS even the most muscula jocks didnt look like Buddy Rapperton. But he made the perfect intimidating villain. Was cool when Christine took out his Camaro (Not cool now- destroying muscle cars) and then ran over his leather jacket clad body!

I love the movie, especially the Charger. The book is even better, several differences in it.

I'm like the "get off my lawn" guy, always muttering "It's a Belvedere, not a Fury" laugh2

Obviously a red/white/silver car pops onscreen better than a beige & gold one, and I don't expect Stephen King would know one from the other...

The original Vacation! Hilarious!

Rusty Griswold : Hey, ya' got Pac Man?

Cousin Dale : No.

Rusty Griswold : Ya' got Space Invaders?

Cousin Dale : Nope.

Rusty Griswold : Ya' got Asteroids?

Cousin Dale : Naw, but my dad does. Can't even sit on the toilet some days.

my best memory of vacation is where Clark and rusty are having a beer.
Clark takes a small sip and hands it to rusty in what he thought was his first beer.
rusty chugs down the whole thing and hands is back to Clark empty.
he tries to take a drink and finds the can empty.

i an excited only 28 hours until the movie.

I had a blast when I saw it as a 13 year old in 1984
