Every Hoosier I ever put on a car slowed it up. I know racers swear by them but I have never had good results. I couldn't get Phoenix tires for my car this spring. Put Hoosiers on it. Car slowed up. Phoenix's came back in stock. Put them on and ET came back. Sold the Hoosiers. They seem like the compounds are different enough that what works good on a cold track isn't worth a damn in on a hot track and vice versa. I am talking about something that 60 fts 1 teens too. Slower cars probably won't notice is as much. M/T worked good too but I can't get the size I need for my car anymore.

Everyone’s car is different. Like anything, when you make a change, especially with tires, be prepared to make other changes to follow. Whether it be tire pressure, shock changes, whatever. I know those who have recently gone from M/T to Hoosier and had no complaints. I went from Phoenix to Hoosier 7 years ago, didn’t notice any difference ET wise. I have thought about buying M/T in the past but my car is happy with the Hoosiers, so ultimately stuck with them. If I couldn’t get Hoosiers, I’d get whatever is available, M/T, Phoenix, Goodyears, whatever. It’s a bracket car so as long as they hook, and are consistent, then I’m happy.

I have always run M/T Drag Radials and slicks. May try some Hoosier tires for the next pair of slicks. A bracket racer here at work swears by Phoenix slicks only.

I'm running these Hoosier drag radials on my Barracuda this season. So far, they are doing great. I have about 25 1/4 mile passes on them, and 1500 road miles. (I did Rocky Mountain Race Week this year) I run them in the 18-20 psi range at the track, and pump them up to 28-30 for the street. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOO-17317I got my PB ET and 60ft last Friday at a Test and Tune on them. (11.16 @ 117.7mph ; 1.49 60 ft)

My Duster was seemed more sensitive to track prep than tire brand; at various times I ran Firestones, Phoenix, and last few were Goodyear. All seemed pretty much the same as far as I could tell. It liked 7.5-8.0 PSI, I ran tubes, and it was a low-10s 368" SB/904 footbrake deal with modified SS leafs, 6000 stall. Good track prep - when some really fast stuff was running - would have it carry the ft tires 100 feet out, and it got up on the rear bumper once for 300 feet before I added wheelie bars, set @ 10". As for the lettering, Bigdad, I removed it with lacquer thinner; no price break = no free advertising...

A few 10.5 NSS racers over here have had to make the swap going from M/T radials to The Hoosier Radial slicks. I have a set of Hoosier D/R's to swap to when my M/T are shot, general consensus on the radials is the Hoosier is a little slower but more forgiving on colder tracks, we have issues getting traction with the M/T PDR if the track temp is 22 degrees C or lower. We don't make a lot of power (900 ish) but we are heavy (4K lbs)
'74 Challenger..9.46 @ 145.9 1/4, 6.001 @ 118 1/8 so far. 4023lb !!! # N/A, Marsh performance 655ci, Indy Maxx, T/R, Indy 600-13 X's, Street legal, pump gas, full interior, Cal-Tracs, mufflers, 3:73's and real 10.5 radials. 9.51 @ 142.4 1/4, 6.003 @ 114 1/8 with our old mule KB, 572-13, 580 wedge. Most those M/T sizes you believe are gone are not really. When they first started after the Goodyear by out the catalog was missing alot of numbers and sizes. That is slowly coming back online. If you dont think they have your size just need to call a distributor or go to a truck at a race. The catalog was not showing many sizes yet they still had them.
As for the M/T's they are very good tires. Not that the Hoosier is not, but they all seem to have a niche. IMO the Hoosiers are great in the larger sizes and for things like Pro Mod, FAST T/D stuff. Alky cars etc. They carry alot more section width that the M/T's do. I have run M/T primarily on my stuff for a long time. I have run Hoosiers as well and they seem to work decent albeit a tad slower, likely a weight thing?!? As for the small tire stuff IMO the M/T has proven to be the better option. Go to any heads up race and let me know how many fast winning small tire cars are on a Hoosier. On the vette we run an M/T 3062S and have been 1.08 60' with them on a 2750ish lb car. I also use the take offs on my 64 and they work quite well.

can also be differences if talking rags or radial . I have only ever run radials so cant talk for rags . I have run MT and Hoosier , 275s then 29.5/30s. Hoosier was always lighter and a little quicker , MT lasted way better . There is a rather limited choice here in Oz lately , no MT pricey Hoosier . Hoosier in current size 29.5x10.5 will give barely half the laps of the MT PBR . So now I have a set of Goodyear radials , they seem good so far after first 8 passes . No apparent breakin needed , just straight at it and same 60s etc . BUT do have specific mount directions for initial running .
