I remember them days doing that from 1974 to mid 1976, I ran a 1970 Hemi Barracuda with 2180 lbs. on the front tires and 1260 on the rear tires without the driver on a nine inch slick in NHRA A/S class until I finally weighed the front and rear weights in July of 1976 at the old Irwindale 1/4 mile drag strip

So you let off the clutch pedal, and pull the shifter 3 times. I let off the brake pedal and pull the shifter 2 times. We do the same amount of footwork during a pass, you are closer to an automatic than you might realize. All you need is the magic viscous torque multiplier full of dustless red fluid.

What’s the shift lite set at?

6800. RacePak shows the shift points around 6900-7000.

Today the car picked up nicely. Have ran a 9.03, and a 9.07. Both around 148mph. I’ll download video of those runs later.

Going to be tough choosing between Jeff or Doug’s car at the 8 sec car show!

Chip, I added 4 grams of counterweight to the clutch, and upped the fuel pressure again. I didn’t touch the car all weekend. It picked up almost 4mph from the 660’ to the 1/4 mile. It pulled the same mph to the 660 as before. It’s now crossing the stripe around 6600rpm.

And before everyone jumps on the bandwagon of “wait for fall air, or change rear gears”, it’s not gonna happen. The car runs what it runs. I personally like that it’s only crossing the stripe at 6600. I like that the car is very consistent. I REALLY like that it goes back into the trailer at the end of the weekend in one piece.

BTW, I can guarantee Doug’s car is way nicer than mine. He’s most likely a nicer guy as well.
