Have you looked at boat carpet? It's pretty lite, need to glue it to make it stay put.

I've been able to specify "no jute or backing" for auto carpet in the past; not sure if you still can.
Seemed about half the weight without it.
For flat areas, the rolls of carpet from the auto parts store are thin & light.

Regular carpet set only weighs 25 pounds, so weight savings isn’t gonna amount to much getting something lighter that will probably look cheezy

Aircraft carpet is the right answer.

25 pounds in a Stocker is a bunch. I've spent considerable time trimming that much out of a car.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Those cars typically have to weigh 3300 + pounds(Abody small blocks). They sometimes carry extra weight to get there.
Sure, stock carpet is 25 pounds, but whatever you replace it with doesn’t weigh zero, it weighs something. I wouldn’t think carpet is bad weight compared to other things.

I have a entire roll of thin carpet used the rear area of suvs, vans etc. It's 61.5" wide. About .070" thick. I could cut you a chunk if you want to pay the shipping.

Actually, for areas you're not basically walking on, you could use felt.
Downside is felt works like velcro for hair, tiny pebbles, leaves, etc.

Home Depot indoor/outdoor I believe it was 6x8 roll. My wife made patterns with brown masking paper. Then transposed it to the carpet. Cut out pieces. Trim around roll bar. Affix with carper tape and Velcro as needed. Lite weigh and looks great.

That looks VERY nice! Great Job!

I ended up using the carpet they put on speaker boxes. Very thin, very lightweight, BUT, very easy to damage. My heel wears a hole in it at least once a season. I like your idea and will go with this stuff next time.
