Didn’t see this until this report came today. What gives?

Not enough info to really draw a conclusion as to why; does seem - on the surface - that it sold well under market.
I'm not sure Bonham's is the best venue for the car; they seem to have a more Euro-centric audience.
Undisclosed Reserve ? #s- matching? Restored to FT specs ? Re-bodied or re-tagged ? Wrong slot to cross the stage ?
It could well show up at another auction in the future...

Odds are it has issues in person

Probably not #s matching engine and/or trans.

No original fender tag or buildsheet.

Could be a ton of reason.

BTW, here's a better picture.

Was wondering if anybjdy here saw it or knows the backstory. It’s such an outlier there has to be a glaring reason.

I don't believe the article is accurate - '71 hemi 'cuda hardtops don't average $900K (the last 2 cars that sold at BJ were 4-speeds: 7/22 NV $550K, 1/22 AZ $935K)
one could use these 3 cars & state '71 hemi'cuda 4-speed hardtop values have dropped 60% in the last 18 months

just because the low mile "Reynolds" bench seat automatic sold for 7-figures doesn't indicate that any other automatic hemi'cuda is worth anywhere near that

Digging around on the car, it was rolled in the mid-70's while being road raced, and the latter restoration was said to be "extensive".

They were so ashamed of the fake tag on BS23R1B388308 that they would not even show the whole thing. laugh2

Still enough there to know some fool was guessing on his fake tag order form.
