I am excited to see what these engines do out in the wild, here's to hoping Stellantis let's Dodge put it into the next gen Chargers and Challengers for those who aren't interested in EV's.

Word on the street is its a sure thing. My guess, the new R/T will be 410HP, the next up will be 525hp, the top will be 525hp w/ electric assist 250hp that runs 10's and can cruise around gas free for 100 miles (to quietly pick up cigarettes and milk) - laugh now, but given the option, you'll take it
The top dog factory 8 second version will be the Banshee pure EV version with 1500hp and 500 mile range (the bigger the battery the more power and range). Will have a low take rate, guys with the hybrids will be tuning the engines to 1200hp + the 250hp Ev motor and will be quicker, it'll re-ignite hot rodding VS lazy boy spend money types

Why are we excited about this? My 5 yr old 5.0 N/A Coyote makes 460 HP and gets 20+ mpg
This gets exciting if they can put this in a 2500 or 3500 and get double digit mileage while towing. Otherwise I'm content getting bread and milk in my Challenger.

The pictures of that I6 that were here on Moparts about a year ago showed such tightly packed components that it looked more V6 than I6.
Since seeing and reading about that new Stellantis I6, I read an article how two men can quickly change without a crane a jet engine on a Swedish Grippen fighter jet on a dirt road out in the countryside.
I am guessing I would more enjoy changing the whole Swedish jet engine, than changing a head gasket on this Italian/French/Holland/Canadian/USA I6.

First off because it's not a ford and this is a Mopar forum and second the reasons are many and stated in video and here. It's not as simple as HP and MPG.
Facts are stubborn things.

I am going to predict this motor is going to be very problem-prone, & is going to be fragile. Short lifespan.
Problem prone seems likely at least at first but I don't think short lifespan. Too much invested. The Pentastar continues on even after sooooo many "tick, tick, tick".
Facts are stubborn things.

That'll never happen. Put a load on it and MPG will tank.

I'm with you on that one. Ask Ford truck owners how much they like their single and dual turbo 6's....in the long run.
If I valued the opinion of Ford owner's I would be one.
I finally got my new work truck, Friday before last. I have about 1100 miles on it right now. It's a Silverado 1500 with the turbo 4. I didn't pick it.
So far, it's ok. I carry as much stuff (fully loaded) as I did on the 3/4 ton it replaced, Silverado 2500 with the 6.0.
Right now, it averages 5 mpg more than the 2500 did, It accelerates just as well, if not better.
No comment on durability yet, the 2500 had 170,000+ miles on it when I turned it in.
The only complaint I have is that the gear I carry around has given the 1500 a Carolina squat, so I need to fix that and that all that stuff I am carrying doesn't all fit in the bed like it did with the 2500, long bed vs regular bed is that issue.

Friend of mine leased one. He said its not something he wants to own, but for the 3 years, its "OK"..then gone.
Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience
