While inspecting the W9 engine after last weeks Dyno session we found a broken intake valve spring. Looking for a recommendation for a good set of springs that will last in a bracket engine.

0.730 lift solid roller cam
2.15 Intake 1.62 Exhaust Titanium Valves
7800 RPM redline
Current springs: PSI 1.58 OD 250 lbs @ 1.94 " 690 lbs @ 1.21"

Probably not the springs fault...looks like your way off coil bind at max lift. You have to check lift at the valve with springs you plan to run, with lash adjusted. So if you have .700 at the valve, your waaaaay off of coil bind. You need to be around .050 off coil bind.

That's a picture of the broken spring with the valve closed.
Springs were installed @ 1.925 that = 0.050 off of coil bind of 1.15
1.15+0.730+0.050=1.93

Did you check valve lift with the springs installed and lash? Your not at .730!

i like the comp 944, set up at 1.89. But they require a .810 inner step retainer, which is a bit goofy. I would only consider them if your retainers are compatible.

I’d call and talk to PSI and get some feedback from them.
They might offer a more premium version of that spring, then it would be a “drop in”.

Or speak with Joe Hornick Enterprises

PSI are probably some of the best springs on the market. If the valve spring broke, something is not happy in your valvetrain

What Brian Hafliger is saying mate is 442 cam lobe x 1.65 rocker =729 lift - 020 lash and -030 deflexion gives your net lift 669 , 1.925 installed height - coilbind 1.15 -. 669 net lift leaves .106 to coil bind , i did say i think those springs were of in our email
