Sooo close. You'll totally have a 9.9x timeslip before the end of the year with that mph!! I'm going to try again this Friday night. We have a test and tune at KID and I have another full bottle already in the car. *Edit* Didn't get to go. Dad is 86 years-old and had a nasty fall last week and ended up in the ER. He lives 3 hours away so we took Saturday to go and see him. He is doing well all things considered. It uses about 2.5 lbs. per pass, so a bottle is only good for about 2 full passes.

Keep good notes on the weather , and you may find when the air is bad , you can drop a little fuel with jet or maybe 1/5lb fuel . Or add .02 nitrous jet . Read plugs . Nitrous engines are still really NA so treat it that way with regard to air DA and water grains . Baby steps

It only needs a decently prepped track and for me to put together the front half and the back half of the runs to get where I want to be. Timing mark is pretty conservative on the plug and I plan on keeping that where it is as well. The problem is the "rock polishers" with the hard tire cars that come out on test and tune nights that burn out IN the burnout box, pull water onto the staging area with treaded tires and pull up the prep by spinning and not letting off for the first 1/8th mile! You are usually limited to 1 or 2 good passes at the beginning of the night before the prep is ruined.

A synopsis of this evening's events:
I put the "350" jets in the plate, installed a fresh bottle that was in the house and turned on the bottle heater. I figured once I got to the little gas station on the North end of town the bottle would be a perfect 93°. I twist the key and rumble out of the stuffy garage and into the cooler night air. All vitals look good and it's rumbling along next to the Kia and Hyundai appliance cars in traffic. I get to Caseys, pop the hood and proceed to put $1.16 worth of 93 octane gas in the tiny quart tank. I pop the trunk, check the bottle temp with the infrared gun and it's right where it should be at 93°. I crack the bottle and slowly open it. As I'm leaving I notice the small town city cop headed East out of town. Perfect! I'm headed in the opposite direction. I click on the arming switch in the ash tray and turn on the electric fuel pump. The red light from the pump switch lights up the already red interior with even more evil red glow! I go about a mile to a patch of road that is concrete. I pull onto the road and decide not to do a burnout in order to minimize noise and avoid any nosy neighbors. I pull it into 1st and pull more timing than normal to be safe. I do a 30 mph roll, hit the throttle and button! She squirts forward clawing for traction and kicks sideways ever so slightly....then GRABS and we are OFF! First gear is the blink of an eye, jam the shifter into 2nd and the hood is still in it's skward trajectory. 3rd gets clicked and glancing down I notice the 100mph speedo is past its usefulness! I let off the button and then the throttle and lay into the brakes. As it comes back down to pedestrian speeds, I start shutting everything off. Fuel pump and arm switch get flipped and the timing gets put back to 34° total. Still a little adrenalized, I crack a smile. She's good to go and zero issues. I take it home, purge the bottle, install a fresh one and take the heater batteries in to charge them. Mission accomplished!
The jug is rowdy, folks!

I finally installed the tinted back window. It takes a bit of finesse, but I like the fact it is held in with a rubber gasket that is easily removed and replaced. No butyl or sealant required!
It kinda hides the rollbar from the back.

Details about last night and the week leading up to to this.
I put 91 octane fuel in the car to cruise it around all week and then a buddy pointed out they were having a test and tune Friday night at Mid America Dragway that was previously not on the schedule. That meant I had to get all the 91 out and put 93 in it! So, I did what anyone would do. I used it as my daily driver for work all week! It's 25 miles back round trip and with some evenings out driving through the countryside, I was able to fill it back up with 93 Thursday night.
The DA was 3500 and it was cooling off and about 80°. Not great but better than it has been. We get in the staging lanes and I'm next up. The guy tells me the 1/4 clocks aren't working and ask what I want to do. Well, crap! I only have one bottle with me tonight so I decide to shut everything down and run n/a just to put some heat in the engine. It does okay and clicks off a 7.26 at 95 mph.
Later they finally get the timing system fixed and I pull into stage. Car hooks pretty good (it's just a test and tune but prep hasn't went away yet) and it RIPS down through on a pretty decent pass! I can't see the scoreboards so I'm guessing it was probably another 10.0!
I read the timeslip and let out a whoop! I'm sure I scared the timing shack personnel!
So this morning the grass is greener, the water is wetter and I've finally checked this thing I've been pursuing a few years now off my list!

I'd forgot about this! I had this post-it under my right computer monitor at work as motivation. Note the "?" behind the 9.92.
It's amazing how I hit the goal with a 9.92 and called my shot! To the hundredth! Granted, it took a little bigger jet but I only did that because I knew prep wasn't always going to give me the 60 ft. I wanted.
This has been on my desk for right at a year.

Weight of the car on the 9.92 pass was 3,680 lbs. I had the ~55 lbs. out of the trunk that I sometimes put in it to get it to hook. So, 3,750 lbs. on a few of the 10.0 passes. 3,680 lbs. with me and a full gas tank and full nitrous bottle for the 9.92 pass. 3,460 lbs. without me. 3,345 lbs. dry with no nitrous bottle and empty gas tank. I need my 100 lbs. daughter to pilot it down the track a few times!
