I have a Hurst Quarter Stick. It's worked flawless for over 8 years. I did have a heat sleeve ziptied around it but this weekend it got a little too hot and got really tight in some areas that weren't well protected.

Before I buy a replacement cable, is there a better option out there? I'm definitely putting a new heat sleeve on the new one.

I don't know if they're interchangeable w/Hurst's, but the cables on my Cheetah shifters have been bulletproof for 25 years.
I do run firesleeve over them if they're near exhaust, but otherwise they've been maintenance-free.

iagree

We have always said that the Cheetah's are "the last shifter you will ever have to buy...."

All that were put in our cars 30 years ago are still going strong.

We used a hurst shifter for close to 20 years. We replaced the cable once during that time. The 2nd time it needed replaced I bought a Turbo Action shifter for the car. The rear entry cable is so much nicer. I still kind of prefer the rachet shifter vs the gate to be honest though. I did manage to break the gate plate on the turbo action shifter this year, I guess it doesn't like to be slammed into 2nd or drive hard after you go red to many times. Never had that issue with a ratchet shifter. I think with the front entry cable it's kind of a "routine" item that will just need replaced with time, especially if you have underchassis headers.

My B&M prostick is sticking now too .. I need to find a longer / mew cable for it .. Luckily , I found a new PPP for a discounted price for Valiant

Not a fan of the turbo action it goes from low to high all by itself

Morse cable. Someone makes/made a kit to replace the cheesy cable Hurst supplies. B&M uses/used a Morse cable on their version of this shifter.

Been a while, but I would fab/buy whatever I needed to make the Morse work. Otherwise, I like the Quarter Stick/Pro Stick shifters.

The garbage truck shifter, not so much. I get tired of fooling with air shifter pressures and gates to make them work for guys who think they are great.
