I don't know what they are Bill, but I'm going to take a shot at it and say they are station wagon HD steel wheels. Now I wait.. wink grin

Im sure thats correct.
A friend of mine has a stock pile of NOS steel wheels. And before he starts liquidating.
I want to go thru and make sure none are the wheels I need. Some in the pile have OE part numer tags/labels. Most do not .
And Im pretty sure they are a 14x5.5 inch and would take the large center cap ( my car uses the full wheel cover )

I have some 14x6 wheels I got cheap I would use if I ever decided to put it back to outward stock appearance (not likely ) and wasnt really looking for the correct rim. BUT,,,,,,,, if he happens to have them ( with my luck not likely ) BUT,,,,just in case he does. I want them

What size tires did the car come with. The 66 parts book shows following options for RW cars. 14x 5.0, 5.5 and 15 x 5.5 With part numbers.

So if tire was an 8 series it would be the 14 x 5.5 2298523.
There was a deep dish 14x5.5 listed for charger, P, D and under the RW column. 2534702

AFAIK
the 1966 HEMI wheel is 14x5.5" wide
it has the 10-hole bolt pattern center
it is the same wheel that was STANDARD on every '66 Charger because of the STANDARD "deep dish" wheel cover w/spinner

a BROADCAST SHEET shows "14" for the wheel designation ---- the '66 Parts Catalog shows part # 2534 702

yes, I don't know when they started, but '66 was the last year - for '67 the centers look the same but only one of the extra holes for a total of 6

I’ll take a picture of original rims from my 66 Hemi car tomorrow. Painted silver just like car. The little holes were a hold over from when there was a small stud to line up wheel using studs that screwed into axel instead of a lug nut.

Thanks

Im curious to see how the backside is shaped
and are they 5 " or 5.5" ?

I have a set of later model 6" rims I planned to use IF I ever went for the OE stock look. and wasnt all that interested in the originals.

But a friend of mine has shelves of NOS steel wheels and If he happens to have one or two ,,or all 5 by chance ( very unlikely ) I want to get them before he liquidates the stack.

The stock 66 14” wheel wont accept the small dog dish hubcap also no 15” was made for that cap.

I may not be following you , but the 66 wheels use the larger 67-back style dog dish cap. 1968 was the first year for the smaller diameter caps.

Yes I read my post…totally got that backward! New centers that use the bigger cap are made for 15” rims plus they’ll do the whole wheel too.

Would a 1966 C body use the same 5.5inch rim ????

I believe this is a 66-67 ? as I had 67 383 wagon and 67 R/T. it is 14 x 5.5 and looks to be 3 3/4" back spacing. Only numbers I see are in picture, no actual part #

Im not sure I would pay up to get a set. As I have a set of clean 14x6 later rims I plan to use

But just in case what is a fair price for a set of these wheels

A buddy of mine just bought these. They are only 14x5 inch.
But for the price was hard to resist . Tires are supposed to be decent as well

I may end up with them anyway .

Does the one side have an L stamped beside on the of the 5? As we look at this post the silver wheels shown I assume would be for a car that came with the small poverty caps. the black wheels from a car with full covers? My 66 hemi coronet shows 14B on the broadcast sheet. Mine would have been black and had the full wheel covers.

Mine are Satellite with full spinner wheel covers.

One rim is KH (Kelsey Hayes) the other 4 are Motor Rim and Wheel

The KH had this part number tag in the center inside

At least one has an L stamp... 5, "valve stem hole", 5, then L

This wheel had no visible stampings near valve stem. Got the lacquer thinner out and wiped paint off, nothing there. You can see NT stamped by smaller hole between valve stem and center. Also looks to have “made in usa “ stamped barely legible, before other info stamped on rim. Again not sure where I got this wheel or what it’s from.

I had a set of the wheels similar to those with the NT stamped in the them. They were 14x5.5” and actually had the 5 on either side of the valve stem. I was told they were not correct but I have seen some that have the notch in one of the small holes before. Thoughts on two different suppliers? Or different years?

NT wheels were mostly a west coast thing, from what I understand.

NT stands for Norris Technologies. They also supplied west coast GM car and truck plants with wheels/rims.

July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.

The wheel I posted is confusing to me as stamping as shown in picture says: Made in USA 4x55K NT H9, is H9 date code as in Aug. 1969 ? that would be a 1970 or newer ? added a couple pictures of 66 hemi satellite that was local car.

To replay about the wheel you posted, if they are the larger diameter caps that were used 67 and previous they will not be a 69-70 wheel. I am not sure what the H9 is but that is not a date if it has the large cap. The reason I mention that is they changed the cap design and went with a smaller 9" cap beginning in 1968, and continued on for years maybe into the 80's.
