so Monday morning I got hit pretty hard in the face and right eye with a 300 pound piece of steel. Unfortunately its going to dampen my summer plans a little. I did regain my eye sight after 5 days. I go back to the eye doctor Monday to see if there is any permant damage. Fingers and toes crossed. Birdtracker

Prayers for best recovery.
I lost the left eye completely 15 years ago, I still wake up thinking it's still there.

Sorry to hear this also. frown
We all should appreciate the God given abilities and body functions we were given. I know I have mostly taken them for granted.

Hope you heal, a friend got his head hit by a bridge beam 18 years ago but never been right since.
I’ve had 6 concussions since I was 4 years old (car hit me, my head hit the road, still have scar) 4th one boxing, guy hit me in back of head while I was putting on the gloves, couldn't remember a thing till later in the afternoon. Now I’m almost deaf from all those imo, started losing it about at 10 years old, took awhile (19) to realize. Bumps all over my head

Even if (God forbid) the eye doesn't recover completely, the brain is wonderful in its ability to compensate

Good god. Hope you recover completely and quickly.

In an instant, bad things can happen. Was at the track yesterday and one of my long time racing friends had his fingers bandaged up. Lost 2 of them in a pulley on a piece of equipment last week. eek

In an instant, things can go sideways pretty quick.

I took a bungee cord to the eye two years ago. Bam, hit the ground and opened it, total blackness, felt it and it was still there and round. Cuts on my face, went to emergency room. Total blackness for 5-6 hours. Was making mental plans on how to adjust to it. Then over a span of couple of hours I could see colors, then shapes. Then over days of sitting upright and keeping the blood pressure down, I could see very blurry faces on TV. Enough so depth perception was going to be ok. After two weeks I have 20/25 in that eye. Very lucky, the pupil is fixed due to damage so sunglasses are a must and will probably had cataract in that eye later due to the trauma, but that can be fixed with surgery if it becomes to much of an issue. When it happened I thought “well that’s that” don’t give up on it,Takes a bit sometimes.

I Had a cutting disc explode while putting new floors in my dart. Took part of my thumb off and had a piece of the disc stuck in my chest like a Ninja star. Gave me a new respect on safety issues. I was wearing a full face mask that day or I probably would be blind now. Take it from Me, NEVER EVER remove that small guard thats on an Angle Grinder for any purpose, its on there for a reason.

it's amazing, looking back on my life, just how many stupid things i got away with that should have done me severe bodily harm or plain just done me in ! eek
when they say : "safety first !" take that seriously folks. i can't believe i'm old now, due to the things i seem to have gone out of my way to do bad things to myself...........

I haven't logged-in so i havent replied but my best thoughts are with you. Reading some of these responses has me reflect on some of the near misses I've had...call it luck? Regardless I'm thankful. Again wishing you full recovery asap.

I offer my thoughts and prayers to those of you who have suffered any injuries. We still have to count our daily blessings.
