This is the same auction company that did the Coffee Walk auction (that didn't seem to go the way Dennis Collins thought it would go).

The place in Denver selling the cars has been around for a long time. Had some friends buy a Roadrunner from them a few years back. Was not as advertised and they way overpaid for it. Still...some pretty cool cars going to auction...
I will probably be there, but not sure if I will be there with a trailer and checkbook...

My Dad wants to bid on the rubber bumper green 71 Charger R/T. They said that car is no reserve so I assume the rest of the cars are also no reserve. The Superbird will be interesting with some of the recent high dollar sales.

The fender tag shows the Superbird as EV2, Tor-Red. It is advertised as Vitamin C, which would be EK2. It is also advertised as having Rallye Rims but appears to me to be pictured with 14" Road Wheels.

I sent her an email and the Superbird color was corrected.

I don't understand the buyer's premium amount. I see one pays 10% for online sales over the base amount. But what is the base one pays if you are on site?

I knew John Soneff decades ago before he died and his son took over, always had some great A-body's.

i heard 5150mopars will be there to buy up all the good cars to double the price later on. If you want it, go full in.

I watched the auction today and the projects went cheap IMO. I was very surprised. Prices you would have seen maybe 10 years ago. Half what 5150Mopars would charge for rusty junk. There were RoadRunners as cheap as $1750. The Petty Blue '72 Rallye Charger U-code only brought $5500. I was almost thinking my PC wasn't showing the right prices??

Seems like the high end cars are going for more money, and the project cars are getting less. Seeing as what it costs to restore a car anymore, it makes sense. Their 10% online buyers premium probably didn't help.

We bought the 71 RR sunroof car. Got out bid on a few others.

I was watching live on line. Two guys got in a pissing match and that thing shot up from 3100 to 7100 between those two guys,

Most of the projects that went real cheap were rusty crap that won't bring much out west here. There was some good deals though.

I was in the mix on several cars. Ended up with the green Barracuda at what I think was a great price. Yes, most of the "projects" looked like they were pulled from the bottom of a lake and will cost more in sheet metal repair than I would ever want to pay. I think some good deals were there, but was surprised at the numbers on some of the cars. Funny, the 69 Charger that sold showed up on Marketplace 4 hours later for almost twice what he paid for it. I really liked the Turquoise Coronet R/T, but got outbid at the end, should have bid one more time! I expect to see that SuperBird at a major auction sometime soon.....

Did you go or bid on line? I looked at the 70 Barracuda, the 70 and 71 Chally verts and the 27 Salt Flat racer a few months ago and the owner wanted twice for everything then what they sold for. They were owned buy someone else and were added to this auction. All were a good buys.
I thought the Bird would have bought around 230K. I wanted the 64 S/Fury vert and 4-dr parts car but a on-site bidder wanted them more.

The Superbird went for $ 203K according to the auction site. I'm not sure if it is with the auction fees. It also appears that the buyer was not on site so add $ 20K for that. I'm trying to understand the math.

At Mecum Indy 23 there was a very nice 440+6 Bench Seat Tor-Red auto on the column Superbird survivor bid up to $ 285K that appeared to me to be much nicer than the Denver car.

That's what I was thinking. Goes to show that rough projects are definitely down. Or this was an anomaly and just one of those rare auctions where good deals were to be had. I'm betting Soneff's was thinking they were going to net alot more.

I recognized one of the 70 Super Bee coupes as having been advertised a few times over the last years but far from CO. It was from NC and then went to TN. They were asking like $8k for the car at the time. Real plum crazy, 4-spd, post car with fender tag. It was just a roller but had solid rails and good "bones" to build. The power bulge hood alone can bring $2k these days. It sold for only $4300 but definitely needs alot.

I was on online bidder. I just got back from picking up my Barracuda...its has zero rust, so I am pretty stoked. There were a lot of cars there being picked up today, some looked better in person. The 64 Fury was there, super solid. I was interested in it too...but if you win the parts car, and lose out on the Fury...well. Just didn't line up for me. Talked to a few of the guys picking up, everyone seemed happy with their purchases. Glad I was not there in person...I would have been bringing alot more cars home than I did, based on what I saw and knowing what they went for.

Ya I think you got a good buy on the Barracuda. I was hoping the 64 vert would go before the 4-dr. I didn't want to pay over a grand for the 4-dr and then not get the vert. I'm heading over in the morning to get the RR. I wish I was picking a few instead of one but oh well.
203K on the SB was hammer price before fees.
