I wanted to share a couple of items my brother found at Goodwill. I've never seen these before and thought I would share. They are little paper boxes made to look like shipping crates, assuming for HO trains (at least that is what we think and put them on a flatbed car), of DODGE, CHRYSLER, and PLYMOUTH. Its like there would be cars (or other items?) in there being transported to a dealer possibly. We have never seen them before, has anyone else?
Also a General Lee slot car body. I think it might be missing the "glass"?, Does anyone else have a full car to show pics? Also, it is a little longer than the Tyco(?) brand motor, does anyone know which brand the body fits on to be correct? Thanks for any info!

Cool stuff! I actually just donated a bunch of car paraphernalia to the local 2nd hand store, garage signs, 50+ dinky cars new in the box, mopar wall clock etc. I went back to donate more a few days later and not a single thing was in the store, I think the old ladies took it home with them, wasnt really the deal I had in mind, but whatever.

Re the general Lee body, iirc, Aurora chassis were slightly longer than Tyco and a bit narrower. I'm pretty sure I remember a Dukes of Hazzard set by Aurora back in their flex track days.
As for the crates, my hunch is you found some one offs. There's plenty of computer programs available to print out, not only crates but entire buildings. Evandesigns.com comes to mind. But these are simple enough someone could have made them with any graphics programs.

Since my mother died I have been clearing out her house, mostly alone. She believed in well made, high performing stuff, particularly sewing and cooking items. She kept every high quality item her parents or ancestors left behind. Many of those items bring back a involuntary memory. There are 4 hard to get into attics in the house, and all were filled.
I try to get family members to accept as many items as possible with free to them shipping.
Never the less, I haul a van load to Goodwill frequently. Someone at Goodwill gets “they don’t make ‘em like that anymore’ items at low prices.
In reverse, Goodwill sometimes has examples of high performing old radios, although it seems most people have already given away their radios.
I support the Goodwill concept of giving those with criminal records a “second chance” to prove they can reliably show up on time for 60 or more Goodwill shifts in a row, do the job without assaulting bosses, co-workers, or customers - and then be given a standard Goodwill recommendation letter that may get them future non-Goodwill jobs.
Stopping at Goodwill to look for radios led me to another “enjoyable zoo of odd fellows and items - which is the annual Highway 127 yard sale.

AW is Auto World and I believe their stuff is reissue of the old Aurora stuff. I can't make out the brand on the top set.
If you have access to a Johnny Lightening slot car, it should have the same chassis.

with TJP. Unless it's something too big or too ratty, I'll donate to the local Resource and Crisis Centers within the County. Not sure whether or not someones stuffing their pockets like at Goodwill, but I feel better that it's staying local. I don't remember if its ALL Goodwill stores or just certain ones, but I read somewhere that a lot of the 'better' items given to Goodwill now end up on their own auction site. Goodwill Linky

For those of you supporting Goodwill, You might want to take a look at where the majority of your goodwill is actually going by looking at the CEO's salaries and BONEuses Then compare to others like the Salvation Army, St. Vincent De Paul and others . I am all for helping those less fortunate but not while outrageously lining someone's checkbook with my donations. This applies to all of my donations cash or otherwise. Goodwill has never been a charity, they are a for profit company that trains workers who are otherwise not going to make it in the real world. I don't have one reservation shopping at Goodwill...
