I checked into the lithium battery at the local battery warehouse and there were two factors.. One was an old style charging system might not charge it correctly, a modern computer/ECM system with a temperature sensor is highly recommended with that style battery... Secondly I was told they don't like any high temp environment and battery life suffers{including the case swelling}... They could have sold me one and I wouldn't have known the difference I was only looking at the weight savings without really researching... At least they were honest about it...

There are. But they aren't cheap. 43# is .04 in ET. I'd live with it. Doug

AGM motorcycle batteries will get the job done at a much cheaper price. FAST racers have been hiding them inside of hollowed out full size batteried for years.
July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.

A no brainer for my 1000cc V-Twin Super Duke with carbon fiber wheels, fenders, chin spoiler, seat, titanium dual exhaust pipes and muffler, etc., hi 10's, low, low 11's at 127+ MPH quarter mile. The OP asked about "BATTERY WEIGHT" not price, function or reliability, seems that in racing or other applications has ALWAYS been the tradeoff for light weight or less weight.

I was tired of the super heavy sixty something pound Interstate in my old Police car and was thinking of relocating to trunk when someone here recommended a lithium battery. I researched quite a bit and ended up buying one and it's been over two years and problem free. It weighs 11 pounds and has more cranking power than the huge Interstate and the charger that came with it is not much bigger than a cell phone so I can carry it in the trunk. Mine is Braille brand.
Facts are stubborn things.

May as well just fill your tires with helium for all the benefit of weight savings you are going to get at those prices.
Mopar guy complaining about price. Go figure.

A12, am I reading that correctly, the red topped battery in you picture is only .8 lbs???? Yes 0.8 lb. if I breathed on it, it would go to 1.0 lbs so that is still 1/6th of the weight of the AGM lead/acid original battery. On a race bike it's the only way to go. Most all of the off-road and motocross bikes are electric start (except Suzuki ? ) and they either come with a lithium light weight battery or that is what mostly everyone goes to if the AGM battery needs replaced. My Super Duke is now well under 400 lbs down around the low 300 lbs according to the Summit Racing NHRA track scale.

Anyone thinking $1k for a battery to save a few pounds is a good deal needs a chaperone. To be fair, they are supposed to last three times as long, so if you think of it like synthetic oil costing three times the price, but lasts three times as long, and is better all around to begin with. Also, taking 40lbs off the highest, furthest front corner of the car isn't just a few lbs.
