Hi everyone!

Last year I bought the Borgeson Mopar large sector shaft (1-1/4") power steering box, part# 800127.

My project work finally got to a point where I can install the box, however having unpacked it and inspected it closely I found the pitman arm output shaft seal to have been cocked during installation.

While I am not sure if replacing it is needed (high or low pressure behind it?), since the box is out I figured I might as well do it now instead of waiting for a potential leak later on.

The only seal markings I can see are 'TBC4 32 45 6/7.5', however attempting to search for a replacement seal online produced no finds. I am sure though there is a proper seal that could be installed.

Has anyone had to replace this seal? Preferrably something from one of the national brand names that I could source locally?

Thanks!

I would give Borgeson a call. They probably will help you with that. See what they say.

Good call, I did actually email them prior to posting in our forum here. My hope was that someone may know the exact replacement seal.

In the meantime, Brian at Borgeson responded the very next day. At first he said to ignore the issue because this is just a dust seal...I responded by suggesting that he may be thinking of the bigger one that sits between the housing and the pitman arm once it's installed, whereas in my case it's actually the seal that's pressed into the case.

He asked for some photos, said if this is an oil pressure seal we would have to ship the box back so they could repair it.

I've attched a couple of photos of what that seal looks like in my steering box. I'll send this over to Brian to see what he makes of it.

I think that's the dust seal , you can see where it was by the paint line on the shaft and somehow it got bumped in on one side .

running up my post count some more .

I would say you have two choices, either drive the high side down until level or remove the seal. If removing, be very careful not to damage the surface of the shaft beer

Yup, agreed!

My goal is to drive the high-side down...ever...so...gently!

Brian did respond and confirmed that this is in fact their dust seal. He wasn't worried about it, but my OCD can't stand it...LOL!
