I just use an old KB aluminum Hemi block I have with no sleeves. Weighs almost nothing. I lift in and out of the engine bays all the time by hand.

In my experience, the plastic replicas with threaded inserts are too flimsy to be used as a fixture for building parts and mounts.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

i dont need to mount anything to the block, just need it for mastercylinder clearance and pass inner fender clearance. Why can’t you just lay the Hemi heads on a 440.

i dont need to mount anything to the block, just need it for mastercylinder clearance and pass inner fender clearance. Why can’t you just lay the Hemi heads on a 440. That's what I did. Used a 440 block w/ hemi heads bolted to it...set it in the car on the factory wedge motor mounts so I could fab the mounts for the motorplate and make sure the headers fit. Unless you're using some sort of hemi conversion motor mount, you don't need a hemi block.
