I have a friend that I raced motorcycles with and he was also a motorcycle dealer of our motorcycle brand and also a long, longtime Mopar guy that told me he had a '68 or '69 Charger with a column shift manual 3-speed ("three on the tree") and it had a /6 or was that a 318? Did I get that wrong in my failing memory old age and too many crashes and head bonks?

Thanks,

Mike

I guess I should have read this post in Q&A "$3 on the tree column for that year or model" but didn't until now because of the $3 .

Pretty much the same question of sorts, sorry blush

Mike

back in the junkyard days, i saw a /6. 3 on the tree 68 go through the auction.
it was pretty rusted up, and there weren't many parts we could resell, so we left it go.
if i recall, it didn't bring much, pretty much just scrap weight price.

Years back a local yard had a Burnt Orange 70 slant and 3 on tree. Rusty mess like most Ohio stuff.

Would there have been a blank plate on the console?

Example 69 Charger slant 6 or 318 standard with 3 on the tree.

I remember seeing a real nice black 70 with a slant 6 and 3 on the tree with bucket seats and a console with a blank plate on top. Never saw that before or again since. It was at the Nats one year. Like 93-95ish.

all the '68-'69 Chargers (& B-bodies) with 3-speed manual transmissions were column shift (225 & 318) - there were NO floor shift 3-speed manual floor shift 383HP B-bodies until 1970 (not counting the earlier '62-'64 floor shift B-bodies grin)

the blank top consoles are from 1966 Charger/Coronet 500/Satellite/etc. that had a console as STANDARD equipment - used with the base engine & transmission (318 "poly" & 3-speed column shifted manual transmission)

To clarify that some... The A-230s 3-speeds with stick shift were available for the 1970 model year, so they were first available in August of 1969.

They were available in A and E bodies too.
