Are 2406395 which are early maxie rods. Good rods to use for 426 max wedge.

Actually those are the second version of the 426 Wedge Rods which are a little heavier than the first version.

Here's a pictorial post on B-Bodies Only that shows both of the 426 and two other RB rods all side by side.

https://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/threads/rb-and-max-wedge-rod-pictorial-reference.175132/

Personally to me I've never had issues with any stock LY rod castings.

As long as you have them magnaflux first and then have them blueprinted and replace the rod bolts and nuts with good ones like ARP before you use them twocents scope up

I have a set of 426 max wedge pistons L2185 ones. Figure max wedge rods would be better then the ly rods.

Max Wedge rods are heavier, that doesn't necessarily mean they are better. Chrysler assumed that heavier was better and it caused a lot of race engine to blow up. You can only sling heavy rods and pistons around for so long before they explode.

A properly prepared LY rod will never let you down and weighs a lot less. Which is always a good thing in my world.

I remember seeing a lot of LY rods pull in two pieces in the middle from guys revving their 440 too high whiney, to hard and to long back in the late 1960s and early to mid 1970s whiney
OP, if you want to make your max wedge motor better buy a set of BB Chevy H or I beam rods with the 7/16 ARP 2000 bolts that are 7.100 long center to center and have your 440 rod journals offset ground to BB Chevy rod size, 2.200 and have the stroke increased to 3.91, have a set of pistons made, Icon has shelf stock pistons for that combination now I think.
That combination can make from 468 C.I. to 471 C.I. depending on what bore size you get, that combination works very well with max wedge heads, intake and carbs up scope
Can you say 550 HP on pump gas with 9.5 to 1 compression ratio grin devil up

Might want to think about what the others have said, bigger = heavier which can lead to breaking usually mid-beam. In addition 60 year old rods may have been subjected to shruggy
I'll try to post an example of a 6 pak rod later beer

Just a thought, but the block, rods, and pistons you have may be worth something to those looking for max wedge stuff. Might help fund a 440 build with better parts. Not trying to convince you of anything though.

the motor actually srvived with a new rod and piston. He actually drove it home vibrating severely as the big end of the rod was still on the crank swinging around eek

When is the last time those rods were made? If they weren't NOS I'd wonder where those rods spent the past 60 years.

Well the question he asked sort of got answered and then in typical moparts fashion people told him what they would use instead ...

Me I'd use a set of aftermarket rods .... but he wants the inside of the engine , where no one will ever see what's in there till those 60 plus year old rods EXITS the side of the block , will never been seen ...

running up my post count some more .

If you have max wedge pistons like l have, use max wedge piston rods to. Max wedge pistons never had Ly rods on them.non heavier max wedge rods as stated above.has anyone used Ly rods on max wedge pistons? Seriously doubt anyone has.
