can anyone confirm this is the 'normal' wear pattern for a magnum engine ('02 360)? It looks ok to me but this is the first time inside a roller/magnum engine...and just want to be sure. Appreciate the feedback. - Sam

cool - thanks ...and actually.....at first glance the wear looks to be on the inside center stripe...but it obviously wears on the outer edges so I guess there are two wear patterns? The more I'm thinking about the more I'm curious...

The more I'm thinking about the more I'm curious... The roller wheel only runs up the center which is why you see that wear in the middle , nothing is touching the outer edges so I'm not sure what you are seeing ? .. i can't see your picture the firewall here at work is blocking wherever it is hosted .
running up my post count some more .

it just looks like there is an 'overall' roller wear pattern with the center stripe (red) and the outer areas (blue) that make up what looks to be the total width of the roller, then the outer unworn areas of the lobe (orange)...? I mean there's obviously three different 'sections' of the lobe, and I was just curious as to the differences in color.

What you are seeing is the main contact patch down the middle, the very light contact patch on either side of that, and the orange lines are oil residue that doesn’t get worn off.

thanks all. Haven't got the cam out yet - waiting for the balancer puller, but should have it out soon and can check carefully. So far all the lifters are checking out good...at least as far as I can tell, and although each and every plunger has been 'stuck' they've all come out with some back-n-forth and cleaning, and the rollers look good.
