As R&T first reported back in July, rumors have swirled that Dodge is planning to unveil a variant of the Challenger capable of running on E85 fuel. This model was rumored to bring as much as 909 hp to the table, which is 202 more than the original 6.2-liter Hellcat engine provided when it arrived in 2015. In fact, that’s quite a bit more power than provided by the Dodge Demon, which makes just 840 hp when running on race fuel. Those sorts of power levels could explain why Dodge is currently struggling with reliability as far as the final Last Call model is concerned. Dodge requires all of its production engines to survive extensive dyno testing, during which time the engines may be run at full tilt for hundreds of hours.

Sounds like they’re trying to justify a change to EV:

“But we ran into some problems,” Kuniskis told media. “To be more precise, the modified V-8 has been blowing up when pushed to the limits in the Dodge test lab. We’re not talking about a minor breakdown. Apparently, the engines really have been blowing up.”

China is the enemy.

I was told that orders finally opened up last Thursday. No sign of anything over 807hp. Orders are all predetermined as to how many Challengers and Chargers each dealership will be getting. Go to the Dodge website and click Dodge Garage to find inventory for the modle that you want. Some dealers are heavily marking up the cars

It is my understanding that the selection process for this model will be the same when the SRT Demon came out so you have to be considered from what I've heard.

I have been calling 909 for the last 2 years, almost since the Hellephant was released. I don't understand what's so hard about detuning an existing engine for the last hoo-rah. Or why they wouldn't. shruggy

The hellephant wasn't a smog legal deal, there is a lot to it when you must pass emissions.

Ah yes, sales once again over promises then blames engineering for not pulling sale's chestnuts out of the fire.

Not just that, also has to survive the arctic and death valley, the hellephant wouldn't survive any of them
