A few years ago a good friend like our 3rd son wanted a Duster. Everything we looked at was rusty and over priced. I found a guy a work with a project. 70 340 Duster he had in the garage for 25 years. Though it rolled on the wheels it was completely apart. Of course this is my friend Jeff's 1st ever project. I thinking how hard can it be. I got him into it , so I'm the mentor. Car was rust free. Had nearly every part. Soooo, let's sell the small bolt patern housing , brakes, ralley wheels, fresh 340 short block, and the 340 exhaust manifolds. Why? Because he has his heart set on a turbo motor. . So fast forward, well slow forward we finally find someone to paint the car. Dizuster and Jeff have been pals since high school. So they make a deal for the turbo motor out of the 62. Prior to paint I installed subframe connectors , mived the springs inboard and narrowed a C body housing to fit 10" wheels. Today we started the reassembly. Jeff taught himself to paint. He did a great job on the under car parts and axle housing.

The 63 is getting Hardcore B's 480" low deck. It will now be a pure racecar running in N/SS with me. We will black out the fenders as they need to be adjusted when the lower front end sheet metal gets bolted in. No roll bar. Street car. Jeff has 4 kids so they want to go. We will turn the motor down to 10.30-10.50

That looks like a fun toy!

I kinda wish I didn't have a bar in mine now, but have to be safe at the track.

Well we've got 15-20 hrs in. Cars been apart 25+ years. Missing items like spindle bolts & nuts, wrong ball joints, brake line fittings, axle to far forward for the tires being used, modifying OE style brake lines are all part of the adventure.. The Jegs rear brake calipers won't fit with the bleeders at the top. We'll bleed them off the lines. Built the rear brake lines. Modified the main rear line thru the subframe connector. I trimmed the K frame previously. Front is as far as we can go without ball joints. Back at it tommorow.

Got almost everything buttoned up with the suspension and brakes today. Need to plumb the aftermarket adjustable proportioning valve and line lock. We are using factory reproduction lines and a late light weight master cylinder. So there needs to be some mods. Still easier than fabbing it all. The front brakes were a bit of a pain. Sliding caliper FMJ body style. Mounted calipers on the rear side. Lines wouldn't fit. Swapped spindles and mounted them on the front side. The calipers hit the sway bar. Moved the spindles again to mount the calipers to the rear. Ended up using AN lines to plumb them. Good now. The 275/60 x 15 M/T's are in and fit. But they are pretty snug. The front has 215/70x15. The bottom rear of the front fender opening may need a slight trim. Hard to tell since the car sets way high with no weight.

Can't wait for the finished product, everything you both build turns out incredibly nice!

Been at it about a week. Repurposed all the lines in the Inline tube kit to fit the Summit valve and line lock. Started with pic #1. Some creative cutting and rebending. The short line to the line lock is new. Used everything else. They all had the incorrect fittings so all were trimmed and flared. Setting on the wheels.
