I want to convert my 80 Volare from manual to power brakes. The power booster is still available with a master cylinder. Does anyone know if this is a direct bolt in for the manual brake setup?
I have 2 concerns 1) is the proportioning valve the same and 2) is there any difference in the brake pedal setup will the rod from the booster bolt right up to the existing brake pedal.

Thanks
Scott

I went the other way on my drag car (pwr to man). The pushrod was different as I recall. Mopar makes an adjustable pushrod avl. from Summit, Mancini, etc. I think the prop valve will work fine, as the master cylinders themselves are pretty much the same. You may have to drill holes for the 4 mounting studs. Not sure on that since mine was already pwr.

The pushrod is different, you will need one from a power brake car(one is longer than the other). Outside of adding the booster, and the power brake master cylinder, this is all you have to do for the conversion.

From '76 brochure: Manual front disc brakes are standard on coupes and sedans; power front disc brakes are standard on wagons and models with V8 engines, optional on models with /6 engines.

This Volare has the leaning tower of power, so I guess power brakes were an option the original owner omitted (along with AC and just about everything else).

I ordered the booster with the MC from rock auto and the picture shows the pushrod. I will see what I get. I have a used setup I pulled from a 81 Cordoba so I should have another rod if it does not come with it, if not I will go for the adjustable one everything I need.

Thanks,
Scott
