I have searched the internet high and low for the answer on this so if there is a thread here on it I haven't been able to find it.
I recently reinstalled the front parking sensors on my 2017 Ram 3500 Longhorn. When I bought the truck it had an aftermarket bumper and the "service front parksense" popping up drove me nuts.
After installing the sensors tested fine in the driveway. On the first drive after once I go above about 5mph the sensors shut off and the "service front parksense" comes on with a ding. If I go below 5mph they come back on etc etc.
The harness is an OEM harness from the dealer that I had to modify slightly to extend the loom to fit the aftermarket bumper. I extended each of the plugs by a bit to get the reach needed.
The sensors are cheap knockoffs from Amazon since the dealer wanted $230 a piece for the sensors (the harness was only $160).
Trying to determine what is going on here. Is it a sensor issue? Do I need to do a battery reset? Something else? The sensors work as they should when parking and I get the proper indications just the weird over 5mph they turn off and it dings at me...Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

The only thing I can see is changing the volume of the tones the front and rear sensors give when seeing an obstacle.

Just wondering, Will it need to go to the dealer for a update? Possibly. But if the truck came with them you should be good to go unless there is some flash updates available to the software. My 2015 has a switch to disable the rear. I do not have front. Maybe you can find someone local who has them to compare or a dealer with one to test drive. What does your owners manual say?

Lots of conflicting information out there. Some say do a battery reset, some say needs to be flashed. The issue specific issue I am running into is that they work fine below 5mph and shut off above 5mph...I haven't found anyone who has that exact issue yet. What I am seeing is a lot of folks who have done this and the sensors are constantly going off when nothing is in front of them. Mine work perfectly below 5mph. And if I turn them off at start up they stay off just fine. It's the speed issue.

I will go look and see. I have a feeling there might be two things going on:
1) The sensors apparently can malfunction if they are squeezed by the bezel so widening the hole a bit can help. 2) The knockoffs have some weird programming in them that is causing this.
I will keep looking and updating as I learn more.
