I have a friend on here that had some head work done on here by another Friend and he's running low low 11's or even High 10's on the motor with what many racers on here would consider a "broomstick" for a cam. Extremely impressive running car/engine.

Smaller than the one I'm asking about

Just general opinions from anyone that's running one or something similar with at least 493 cubes and pump gas.

Was thinking about a small Ultradyne 255/259 with the .4033 Endurance lobes

Got a motor project in mind

Thanks!

We run the Howards 234/241 .545 lift hydraulic roller in our 505.

It has run a best of 11.19 @ 121 mph at 3600 lbs. and 10.01 @ 133 on a small shot of nitrous at 3,700 lbs. All on pump gas at 10.3:1 CR and through the mufflers.

Lots of miles and passes. Zero issues! The 3rd gear pull on the street is lots of fun! up

Depends on the heads. The Trick Flow heads do not need (or want) a big cam when used on the street. I have a 239/245 hyd roller in my 496 with the TF240 heads and the cam is a few degrees too big for comfortable street use. Engine made 600/600 on the dyno and pulls hard in the car. I'd prefer a slightly less lumpy idle and better drivability at low speeds so I wish I would've gone two degrees smaller on the cam.

X2 - the cam's intake/exhaust bias choice always needs input w/r/t the head flow data

That sounds small to me even for a stock stroke 440. smile

iagree Might be on to something, I run a bigger solid roller in a 440, 258° @ 0.050”. A-833, 3.54 it’s not ideal, but it works shruggy

Have a Ultadyne flat tappet, 263 @ .050 in a 528. No bad manners at all. None. Idles a little bumpy but doesnt affect function. Runs 10.20, street car. I've always failed to see what makes cams similar to this "unstreetable". I don't get it

Two cams with similar .050" and intake/exhaust split, but one with 110 LSA and the other with 106, will behave quite differently. A single degree of lobe separation is as important as 4 degrees of duration.
Please post the center angles, if known.
