Because I have a cable shifter in my Jensen, I positioned the new kickdown cable bracket about 1 inch aft of the usual mounting hole on the trans body. This puts the supplied spring for the kickdown lever under constant tension even at engine idle. Is this harmful? I have also sent an email to Bouchilon on it.
By the way per my old post on shifter slop, a spot of weld on the shifter tang took out the slop and the neutral safety switch is consistent now.

The spring is to help pull back the kickdown lever when letting off the throttle. It'll have some extra resistance when applying the throttle, but it should be fine. There might be too much spring tension or the spring may not stretch enough for full throttle. You may need to get a longer spring or fabricate a spacer for attaching the spring to.

Both Bouchillon and Lokar make cables to do the kickdown function on a 727 instead of factory rods and levers. The supplied bracket at the transmission end mounts to a hole that is already occupied on my car. I have made another bracket that will give the cable a slight amount of slack at idle to try and duplicate the stock lever setup.
