I'm just finishing up assembly on a stroked Magnum with stock rollers on a new cam and I was wondering if just standard 5-30 oil will work for break in. The only area I was concerned about was distributor drive gear wear. I applied Gibbs assembly lube to the gears and I think that should be good for start up. It is a Comp cast core not a billet cam so I'm using a stock type gear.

Thanks up

You should be fine. I use VR1 race oil for pretty much everything...except for flat tappet break in.
