So i ve run into a little problem. We dropped the motor and trans and k member out of the bottom of my coronet. we did it on a lift. My guy is moving out of state next month so there is no lift to put it back in. We just ran out of time. So i need to get the k member back in the car and it still has suspension on it. Any ideas on the best way to go about this or is it gonna be a nightmare no matter what? Just not even sure where to start. anyone? Thanks Joe

Not sure why it would be a nightmare.

Just separate the suspension and engine if you need to. Not a nightmare, just a longer process.

I have done it and have seen many others use an engine hoist to lift the car and drop it on the engine/trans/k-frame...

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

Sounds like you're going to have to learn how to install the motors and trans with car assemble with no motor and trans wrench.
I would install the motor and use a short piece of a wood 2x4 to put between the oil pan and steering cross bar between the steering box and the idler arm and then jack it up and put it high as you can on jackstands and install the tranny from the bottom on a tranny jack or floor lack scope wrench up
My wife bought me a Sears tranny jack one year for a Christmas so she didn't have to come out late at night in the cold and push the floor jack in and out on our driveway while I guided the tranny into position to hook it back up in the car wrench shruggy

We have in the past removed the bumper and bolted some channel iron to the frame with the bumper bolts, then lift the front of the car with a cherry picker or hoist attached to them. We usually have the upper control arms mounted in the body, not on the 'K' assembly.

ive pulled the motor and trans and put it all back in in one shot 5 times in the 30 years ive owned it. the reason we didnt come up through the top was i had a horrific back injury in march and was in no shape to be laying on cement or bending over the fenders. So we decided to drop everything out the bottom. Problem is my buddy is closing his shop and moving to arkansas the middle of next month so now i have no lift. Still waiting on parts to build the motor. So i just want to get k member back in then when motor and trans are done they will have to go down in from the top. We just ran out of time. Ive never done it this way before so im clueless about how to go about it.

Not sure what the issue is. But do this. Only without the engine.

I built a jig from wheel dollies and some scrap steel.

Take everything off K-frame, use a floor jack to lift and bolt it back to car (I’m assuming you have the car on jack stands) the rest is as simple as bolting on the parts in reverse order they came off. If your back is that bad, hire someone to put it back.
PS before you start take pics from different angles for reference going back together. If you’ve had the motor out 5 times this should be a piece of cake but it sounds like you’re asking how without bending over.. no way.

This would be no more time-consuming than making the gadget to hook up an engine stand to raise the car.

Sounds like the issue is more your back than anything else. None of us that aren't local to you can help with that. I have installed engine, trans, and k-member in one shot from underneath a few times. BUT, that requires laying on the ground.
