In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Totally agree. I posted that article as an eye opener to anyone that thinks Amazon is a great place to buy your stuff. A lot of what they sell (not everything) is either outright counterfeits of legitimate brand named products or Chinese Copy Crap sold under names you never heard of.

Buyer Beware has never been more appropriate.

I am sure the pictures and description of the hose in that article looked like the good stuff but it would have burned their car to the ground, possibly with them in it. panic Sometimes cheap copies work fine and other times not so much.

And, not of of the brand name hose and fittings are interchangeable. Which hose with which fittings escapes me. I believe all others interchange change okay except for Aeroquip steel braid will not work with Earls, Red Horse, XRP or Fragola. I have mostly Fragola and some XRP all of over my cars.

Seems to me that 90% of what's on Amazon is Chinese - that's a ton of cheap crap taking over the US, but most people put price ahead of everything else.
Years ago I had some grief with Russel fittings and swore off that brand - never had a problem with Earl's though.
I have a LOT of Earl's fittings & some hose, enough for another lifetime, and don't like mixing brands in case there's a compatibility issue.

I don't buy anything from Amazon. Especially something that can burn down my car or my shop, or kill me if it fails. It's like buying crap on the street from a guy in a trench coat.

Don't buy anything off brand. Or not made here. Hard to do with the small adapters and hard parts, but I still use only 2 or 3 manufacturers for any of it.

Don't mix hose ends and hose from different sources. Unless it is all known AN spec, and then it's a maybe.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I worked around two different military bases, 29 Palms MCB and George AFB and learned about the AN hose from them, BTW AN stands for Army Navy specifications.
In today's world of counterfeit parts imported and sold here in the U.S. as meeting the AN standard we all know that ain't so now whiney
I have bought a bunch of new and new surplus AN fittings and hoses, some of the new currently sold hoses are NOT built to the AN specs down rant whiney
Be careful on what you buy, DO NOT buy the cheapest available when it comes to hoses that can hurt you when they fail tsk work

The earlier name brand braided hose sold by well known companies is prone to failing when exposed to ethanol. I have always hated the braided crap. I will remain a supporter of hard plumbing with a short section of VISIBLE name brand hose where needed. twocents beer

Chinesium is another way of saying Crap.

Seems 99% of the stuff is from overseas. Have to wonder what people say about their own products(in china) or is it just the crap they send over here and they keep the good stuff. Wonder what brand tools are in a mechanics tool box in China? Sure you won't see any that say "made in China". I seen a few where they mask where it was made and say "made in PRC" to fool people. (People's Republic of China) if you didn't know. Although there are tools that are MIC that are not complete garbage. Gearwrench comes to mind.

China to me these day is like Japan in the mid to late 60's. Still producing some junk but beginning to develop and show the capabilities of building quality products. A lot IMO depends on the effort put forth by the requestor and money they are willing to pay the MFR in China. I'm not defending them just stating an opinion. I have tools from japan that were made in the very early 70's that are still functioning just fine, pneumatic included. I have begun to see a slide in the quality of some Japanese products that makes me wonder if the generational change (1970-90's born children) are beginning to following the same path American offspring have. I believe the vets from WWII built the country up during the 50's & 60's. Their children were taught the same morals and ethics. The offspring of those and subsequent generations is where we as a country began to fail opening the door for Japan and now China. BTW those Morals and ethics of the WWII vets were replaced by self centered entitlement & GREED

I agree not to use china hose but it read like a paid sponsor ad for Deatschworks and there products. The majority of us just need phone a friend or make a post for a part we cant find, hard to imagine they dont have friends in the loop.

Definitely an infomercial just like most magazine articles but the message is still valid to someone trying to save money by buying absolute junk.

Unless you're racing in an hostile environment, such as Ralley racing, there is no need for beaded hose. And if you really need it get it from an Aircraft source, so that you will know it isn't Kung Fu stuff. Earls parts isn't good stuff. Aircraft Spruce and Wicks Aircraft has about any AN part that you would need.

I believe the NHRA rulebook stipulates otherwise

They can and have done so it's just all the crap they sent over here. What are the Americans going to do after buying cheap chin stuff when it fails? Nothing! They are not going to send a wrench back to China and expect a replacement. Replace junk for junk. They got your $ that's all they care about. The US should put strong sanctions on anything coming in to this country from overseas with less then average quality. Then this chinese crap wouldn't be polluting the supply chain. Look what happen after the pandemic hit, They started making sub standard N96 masks and sending them over here. They where sending over knock off hand bags and fake I phones for years and probably still do because they can get away with doing it.
