There are tube seals made for this Milodon sold by Summit, Jegs, Mancini and many others SummitMuch cheaper. Made in China copy? Classic IndustriesNote:. They install easier if you freeze them first. Note2: Don't know if it is true but I read somewhere that they may not fit aftermarket heads that have beafier rocker stands.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Always had a little oil in mine, didn't seem to affect the plug. The washers really scrape the hell out of the tubes; I quit using washers and never had a problem without them. Did You initially remove the washers or after one or two plug changes ? I'm told that the washers beat up the tubes...told the washers stay on...big debate I guess. Thanks

I think it would be a lot easier with the covers off. Impossible with covers on.

There are seals available , has been for decades .
I thought I read no washers on the plugs ? Correct or the tubes gall With or without lubricant/anti seize compound? Aluminum head instructions always state use anti seize compound....should take care of that

Will the tube seals work on aluminum heads ?
Now I changed the plugs and left the washers on. Drove the car and the smoke and sputtering cleared up as usual but now when it sits for a while and I start it..it fires up nicely but idles erraticly and smokes for a few minutes..like I just changed a plug. So I "assume" there is a tube or two leaking into a cylinder or two. New tubes and no washers ? “Will the tube seals work on aluminum heads?” They do on my -m heads

So I "assume" there is a tube or two leaking into a cylinder or two. New tubes and no washers ? Since inception we have never used spark plug washers. Makes no difference if cast iron or aluminum heads. If tubes were used with washers I would start with new tubes or find the appropriate size socket and extension and flatten the inside gasket face of the tube. Depends how knarled up they are.

I don't understand why using the washer on the plug would cause galling while removing them doesn't. Most of you guys seem to be in agreement on it so there must be some truth to it.
I would expect a plug with no washer would compress the tube end, drag against the aluminum while tightening, and work harden it until it chips off. I would also the expect a crush washer to somewhat prevent that.
But the opposite is true??? I've been using the crush washers on my own Hemi since I built it in 2016, so far so good on the tubes, but I'm open to change if there's a good reason. You reduce the effective surface area by using the washer which increases the “unit loading” which galls the tube. The tube acts as a seal, pinched by the plug and head, it conforms to the plug and head. I have actually had to use a few tubes that were jacked up. By repeated tightening and loosening you can sometimes salvage the tube in a pinch. (A similar galling issue - using the incorrect head gasket on an aluminum head).
