I prefer the black over silver or body color. Correct or not. The body color scoops just don't break it up enough for the distinguishing it is a shaker hood and scoop as a black scoop does.

I'm pretty sure that all the 1970 Shaker scoops were silver argent, maybe in late 1970 they started offering the black for 1971 car, maybe not ![shruggy shruggy](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/shruggy.gif) We bought a complete NOS Shaker set up from Dick Landy in early 1974 and it was siler argent: work: He held onto it until NHRA made the 1970 T/A glass hoods with the T/A Scoops legal on 1971 Hemi Challengers in 1974 ![shruggy shruggy](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/shruggy.gif)

My 1970 Late July production N96 car was a factory black shaker bubble.
car only had 17K miles on it when i got it.
I was told that very late production 70's very likely were this way.

Got me a NEW Project 1970 GTX 440+6, 4 spd, 4.10 Dana and N96 FE5 (top/bottom) and black bucket interior. Original transmission and Dana - Engine is a service replacement block.
Body has all stamped #s + VIN/TRIM tag and door sticker. Been hunting like all hell to find the Build Sheet.
garage find, only had 41,850 miles on ODO.

I have seen both Argent and Black Bubble in 1970 on E Bodies and Red ones on Cudas up to about Jan 1st 1970. My Nov.5 1970 1971 Cuda came with a Black Bubble, my June built 1971 Challenger came with an Argent Bubble. I believe that Chrysler or I should saw Fram shipped back Argent bubbles that were to be used on 1970 Challengers but were never used in 1970 because of the Hood screw up at the end of production year in 1971. I have seen both Argent and Black Bubbles on 1971 Challengers.. I believe Chrysler was trying to get rid of a lot of old stock. I also have seen that most 1971 Cudas built in April of 1971 have a 1970 Shaker Hood on them. Theory is Chrysler was trying to use up old stock again and used old stock in plant to get rid of it.

I don't really have any idea. I have not studied that many Shaker cars. However, I think I remember reading somewhere that light colored cars were supposed to get one color shaker and dark colored cars were supposed to get the other color shaker but deviations/mistakes were not uncommon. With Mopar anything is possible. Paint it the way you like best.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
