The hood skin is separating from the inner bracing and I would like to bond it back. There is a bunch of little spacers that go between the skin and bracing.
They look like felt that has hardened and deteriorated over the years. Someone told me ford uses a similar method on their door skins.
My hood starts bowing up around 100mph.

Those are dabs of seam sealer, you can buy it in caulking gun tubes.

Whatever scoop that is may be causing enough lift and / or drag to just pull the top skin away from the seam sealer.

Thanks , I didn't think of seam sealer. The dabs looked too uniform in shape and thickness.
I want to use panel bonding adhesive to reattach. I guess the factory didn't plan on someone putting a scoop on.

laugh Yeah, that scoop is going to catch some air for sure. That panel bonding adhesive is going to earn its pay holding that down at 100+ mph... grin

Put bigger washers on those two front screws so they overlap the flange on the hood inner.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

I can put larger washers on . The hood skin separated from all the middle bracing. Maybe some holes in the rear of the scoop may help.
I wanted to put louvers on the rear when putting it together but didn't have way to do it. Also the opening is a bit too big.
Maybe I will make top a with smaller opening.
My car will run 130+ if I run it out the backdoor. I was lifting about the 1000'.

Streamlining the scoop support sheet metal in front may help some too.

When I was just a kid, I bought a 70 Road Runner with an Air Grabber. I noticed that both rear corners of the hood, at the hnge area were bent down. I couldn't figure why that was until i had the car over 100 mph and could see the motor under the center of the hood. Then I understood clearly.

That scoop needs to be attached to the under hood bracing in as many places as possible. Just adding panel bond between the bracing and the skin is going to result in a distorted hood sheet metal where ever the panel bond holds the outer skin to the bracing, as the scoop is trying to pull itself free from the outer sheet metal. The shape of the front of the scoop isn't helping, it is creating a huge air trap under the front edge of the scoop.

One good thing, it appears the scoop is functioning well, its forcing air under the hood.

Yeah but the only place to attach the bracing is at the front and rear of he scoop.. The bracing is too far away on the sides unless I extend the structure to the middle of the hood.
The picture of the front part of the scoop is deceiving. It actually comes to a point. Like this....

The problem with the car is it is small and never found a scoop everything was way too big. Originally, I put a roof scoop on from a Subaru WRX rally car. The issue was it just barely fit.
I couldn't use a any carb spacer or try different intakes.
