I was able to track down the original owner of my '67 Belvedere II and sent him a letter in early April. He gave me a call and we talked for about a half hour about the car. He told me he had taken it to Carlon Hine of Hine Motors and had him change the cam, carb & intake to the '68 383 spec cam, carb & intake.
Just curious to find out more about Hine Motors if anybody has info/pics, whatever. I did find out from my car's original owner that Carlon Hine ran a car called the "Honkin' Hemi".
I'd love to hear more if anyone has stories, pics or info.
'67 is an abbreviation of 1967 67' is an abbreviation of 67 feet They are not interchangeable.

Somehow back about 12 years ago, my father and I managed to talk Jeff @ HRE, Carlon Hine's son, into rebuilding my 340 6-pack T/A engine. Like you said, they really only work contracts on dirt track cars these days. Apparently Jeff had a hankering for rebuilding a 340 6-pack. Honkin' Hemi info here: Honkin' Hemi

I joined a Sunset Drag Strip Facebook group a few months ago because that’s where the car was run a lot and asked if anyone knew my car back in the day. I mentioned that Hine Motors worked on it. Jeff Hine is a member of the group and he didn’t remember the car and asked Carlon about it. He didn’t remember it either.

I plan to finish my 20-year resto on my Challenger T/A this summer. It is/was a father son project. Both my dad and I are getting up there in age, so it's now or never. We'll finish it in my dad's shop just around the corner from Hine Racing Equipment, and I definitely plan to show up at HRE and let Jeff take it for a ride if he likes. A man needs to inspect his work, right? Apparently Jeff is quite fond of T/As. Carlon is getting up there in age, assuming he's still around.

I just saw a picture of the Honkin' Hemi Barracuda posted on the FB 68 SS Dart/Barracuda page.

I just saw a picture of the Honkin' Hemi Barracuda posted on the FB 68 SS Dart/Barracuda page. That car and the red 64 Honkin Hemi are not actually from Hine Motors. Those are both cars that Tony Depillo owns/owned that Carlin gave permission to paint and letter resembling Hine Motors cars. Pretty sure Carlin never owned or raced either one.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
