What size wheels and tires can I get away with?

I have a 71 Valiant and just perchased the Mancini Racing Relocation kit.

With the rear fenders covering the wheels and tires, I have a problem finding the rite size.

Could I get away with a 275/60/15 with a 8" wheel? Or can I go with a larger set up? Or even this set up.

What backspacing should the wheels be?

I will not be minitubing this vehicle any time soon!

Have any of you A body guys only relocated your springs. I'm having a problem finding out what backspacing I need inorder to run a 275/60/15.

5 inches of backspacing should be sufficent.

Is that what you have on your Duster?

It doesn't look like the tires are bulging out of the wheel well.

The thing that stinks on the Vailiant and Dart the fender hangs over the tire.

Actually, I have wheels that have only 4-1/4" backspacing (they didn't make custom sizes). The tires are 255/60-15. About the biggest I could stuff under the wheelwells.

I had the stock width 8-3/4 in my Dart 57-1/2" wheel to wheel and i had 10x15 c.lines with 7-1/4 back space, with 29.5x 10.5x 15 slicks.

I just installed the 3/4 inch relocation kit on my valiant and ordered some 15x8 inch rims with 4 1/2 backspacing for a set of mickey tompson drag radials 28" tall x 11" side wall x 9.5 tred width.it pretty much puts it in the center of the wheel well, no tubs either. if you know the hight and width of your tire, you can take a piece of cardboard and make a simulated tred width and try diferent backspacings till you get the one thats best for you. hope this helps

Hold a straight edge on the surface of the brake drum and measure with a tape to the edge of the springs to see how much backspace will be needed, you need to account for tire bulge also.
I have a '70 dart with 255/60s and the springs moved in a 1/2" and I'm not sure if a 275/60 will fit with the car setting level.
