I drove down there this week to drool on the offerings at Mecum.
One building was like a museum with a lot of vintage race cars on display, along with some of the most prime offerings like the hemi Daytona that sold for 1.2M and Nickey and Yenko Chevies.

Once again my link isn't "live". Not sure why in recent times when I post links here they are only "live" about half the time. Copy and paste in your browser, or I'm going to post in FBBO too and the link should work there.

I think you took too much off the end of the link, did it have a question mark? work

Probably because there isn't a recognizable extension at the end like .html or .htm. Not a big deal but yes it can be aggravating.

Nice photos.

I just copy and paste a link to post it here, I only modify it if it’s one of those mile long eBay links where you cut off at the ? mark to abbreviate.
Never had a problem here posted links for years, but in the last year or so suddenly they are not live about 40-50% of the time and no amount of playing around with the link helps.
Here we go again. shout

Yet if I post the link to the FBBO post I made about the auction it works fine! work open it and the Flickr link is alive and well on that board. Must be an infolinks thing. laugh2

So, what has some of the stuff sold for? How about the GSS Demon in Petty Blue?

I am tired of Mecum. Round the clock Mecum is puke It's almost as bad as the 24 hours of LeMans, except that only lasted 24 hours.

If you are registered with Mecum you can just log in and see results.
As has been the case recently there have been some sky high sales prices. The GSS sold for 150 or 160K iirc. The hemi Daytona sold for 1.2M which factoring in the buyers commission totals 1.32M!
A really nice B5 Demon 340 got 88K I think it was! I didn’t get pics of it as there were a bunch of people around it and I didn’t make it back. So many cars so little time!
On the other hand, that red hemi Coronet R/T only got 55K, 60,500 with buyer premium. I’m really time limited in my day trip from Chicago so couldn’t give it a close inspection but it seemed really nice from my cursory look. And a hemi cuda vert clone built off a V code (?) only got around $125K, if it was a real V code I’d expect higher.
A V code Challenger vert got a similar sale. As you can see from my picture it had a bunch of docs in front of it. It was really not a good looking resto though. FC7 shade looked off, under hood looked poorly restored. Maybe it sold based on it needed to be blown apart and restored right?
GMs were bidding to the moon. Any Pontiac experts know what was so special about that 71 Judge vert that made it worth $400,000 to someone?
Dana and Frank will be adding on to their Lake Geneva mansions with the commissions they are getting from this auction! haha

Be happy Motor Trend TV only broadcasts 4 days of the auction instead of all 8! grin
Remember 10, 15 years ago we’d have multiple page threads about BJ “Cirque de Sand” or think back 10 years ago multiple page threads on the nats or MCACN? Now members here only get excited about threads complaining about infolinks, being in an echo chamber griping about the idiots in charge in DC or spreading the latest conspiracy theory in current events, or talking about members here who left. frown

165K with the buyer premium. Is that a record for a small block A body?

They were making a big deal about that 88 car in MCG and how exciting it was it was going to be in the Mecum auction.
I was looking at my pictures of Mecum 2021 and it was there last year too? shruggy

I would do some really risky things to own that 88 car...
Man, that sounded good.

In 71, there were less than 10 Judge convertibles made as I recall. We were on to one of them in Phoenix back in the 80's - it was a blue one that this older black guy owned - it was his driver vehicle. My business partner caught up with him one day & love or money couldn't have bought it! RARE & VERY DESIRABLE if you are a GTO guy! Basically the holy grail of GTO's.

there are 17 Judge convertibles for 1971 all 455 H.O.
only 3 are 4-speed (2-gold & 1-red)

the $440K MECUM car was an automatic shock so is the only blue one

the 1970 GTO Judge convertible 400cu.in. RAM AIR IV 4-speed is the top of the GTO $$$ heap
