I was wondering if I could use a the 489 chunk out of a 69 Roadrunner in a 72 Cuda that has a 489 case? Are the yokes different? The one out of the RR is missing the yoke. Any idea on gear ratio from the Roadrunner? 1969 Roadrunner post car with a console automatic. Im just looking to swap these rearends. Thanks any help appreciated

Yes you can use it , if it's missing the yoke and it's something you are looking to buy I would PASS. Unless it's been changed the 489 used a crush sleeve to set pinion bearing preload and it's not as simple as just putting a yoke back on , especially if you didn't take it off, nevermind it's a POS cone type sure grip .

road runners had 3.23 , 3.55 and 3.91's with sure grip in 69 .

There is a procedure for setting up the crush sleeve after the yoke has been replaced. My 489 has has the yoke changed and still works perfect. Its been in the 65 since probally 1980.As the cone isnt as good as the clutch type they are still a good SG.Whats the price?Rocky
