For a budget type build, Moser makes a decent axle. My only suggestion is to upgrade to 5/8 studs while you are at it. The little extra that it cost, is worth it in the long run.

Definitely go w/ 5/8" studs now. They're easier to work with and a pain in the rear to upgrade to them later on. I like and use Moser axles. Not a fan of Strange axles.

I agree with Moser, I use and like them as well.
The 5/8" stud idea is great also but factor in your street wheels(if you have any) with that decision. It is not always as simple as drilling a wheel out to make the larger stud work.

I'll be upgrading to a 9" soon since gear sets are hard to find for a Dana 60 of late.

i'm going to ASSUME it has a 8 3/4 rear end in it now, correct? If so does it have a steel cap on the driver side? If not get one soon Mark Williams and Strange engr. should both offer them I've seen way to many stock iron caps in multiple pieces after failing, NOT GOOD

Has anyone used the axles from Doctor Diff? He says they're as strong as Moser/Strange.....$300/pair w/green bearings installed. Yes I'm on a budget but I don't want junk....
Thanks All!! We will find out soon. I just installed a set in my 64 Dodge wagon. 8 3/4 sure grip and should run high tens.

Thanks All!! I recently bought a set for a stock length B-body Dana 60 so they are basically a stock replacement. This is a street/show car and not a race car. I couldn't tell who made them, they looked like a Chinese knockoff. The splines are much longer than they need to be probably because they blank out a common larger length axle and cut it per application. So far I have no issues but had I known I just would have paid more for the name brand axles(Moser, Strange).

I have used Dr. Diff's 35 spline axles in my D60 now for 5-6 years. 3740lbs, Trans Brake, Radials, 1.37 60ft behind the turbo small block.
It ate a stock planetary, and rear sprag in the trans (with Low Band Apply!), but never hurt an axle.
It did bend the 1/2" wheel studs, so I upgraded to 5/8".

Thanks All!! I have. They work very well. We use them with a spool in a 3,700 lbs. street car in a Dana 60. It's seen 1.36 60 ft. times and we beat on the car regularly. I would highly recommend getting them minus the garbage 1/2" studs they come with! We bent them as well. We put in Strange studs and all has been fine since.

Any difference in strength of them? There is a substantial difference between 30 & 35 spline axles. I know of at least one manufacturer that shows a comparison, but don't recall which one. FYI -35 spline 8 3/4" and Dana 60 are basically the same! But Dana 60 has the 40 spline option with 5/8" studs if that's a big concern.

I used a set of Strange 35 spline race axles and spool in my old low ten second pump gas Duster 3450 Lb. streetcar with the original 8 3/4 rear end with coil overs and ladder bars until it ended up bending the crap out of the rear end housing: shock I was able to reuse the axles in a Dana 60 housing that I had narrowed and had the axle ends replace with new Moser ends, no problems with rear ends after that :
