Seems it going the other way, first set was super (79) the next three have gotten worse. The first set would cancel out the high noise, could hear rockers tic over open exhaust. The newest shuts down on any sharp noise. In susesion $950, $1500, $6500, used set for a week and turned back in for a better set by owner $3400. Protect your ears please!

I still have that album...And a pair of JBL K-140 bass speakers that were owned by Nick St.Nicholas...

Back in the mid 80s, I was still running the record store where we opened/played this for the first time.

We thought it was sooo cool…never imagined how huge it would become.

About 10-12 years ago I was doing a corporate gig in Calgary & the entertainment was a band whose whole deal was a tribute to this album & other African influenced pop like Juluka.

As great as the music on this album is, the production quality is amazing too. Music is simply not recorded this well anymore- there isn’t enough money in record sales to make the investment.

Some of you know Sheffield Labs recordings, they are direct to the cutting lathe with NO pauses from one cut or tune or recording to the next on each side. Sometimes you can hear the sheet music pages being turned between cuts as it keeps "recording" One time I heard something that was dropped like a drum stick but the cutter keeps on going. The dynamic range of the direct to disc recordings can really only be "felt" and heard when you play the vinyl album on a turntable. If you don't have a Sheffield Lab direct to disc or similar DTD vinyl record you should get one and hear the difference.........at least once
