I recently bought a new distributor from 440 source. Model 117-1002. I didn`t realize you unplug the ecm (orange box) and ballast resistor. The wires coming out of the new distributor ,black has a small circle connector to the neg side of coil. The red lead has a female spade connection. Directions say black to neg, red to positive on the coil. Why not a circle connector on both. ? If you have one of these how do you have it hooked up? Not using the orange box and ballast is kinda like getting rid of the devil you know for one you don`t. I been traveling with an extra ballast and ecm box for years . I`m sure most of us have. Any thoughts or advice on this particular distributor? If a component fails in the old system it can be swapped in a few minutes. With a spare I have handy. If the all in one unit fails i`m dead in the water. Am i over thinking this.? Thanks for any help.
