Just wondering, but has anyone ever heard of rolling the cylinders when boring blocks? Boring cylinders off the center line around 5 degrees.

Years ago, a lot of them, early to late 1960s, Connie Kallita was buying all the 392 Hemi blocks he could get in SO CA in the winters when he was out there to race the Winternationals and having them offset bored toward the motor mounts to help keep from splitting the cylinder walls on the cam side. That was before many racers had found out that Chrysler made three different casting of the 392 hemi blocks and the A-1 casting was the best to use for racing.
Donovan came out with their new aluminum 417 race blocks in the beginning of 1971 that the 392 parts would work on so that fix those blocks being sought for racing and bought up boogie
Milidon made the 426 type blocks about six months later and many other followed after those two, TFX and other names I can't remember now.

I was talking to a couple of engine builders the other day and they said back in the day people did to free up a bunch of power, they said it worked by reducing friction.

I've seen it done on some old tractors for pulling competition engines.

Aside from what Cab said, would rolling the cylinders have the same effect as rolling the heads?

It may be ugly, but it sure is slow.

Girls comb their hair in rear view mirrors and the boys try to look so hard....

I had an X block offset bored due to core shift. In the end it worked but it was a pain in the azz due to valve pockets and push rod clearances.
