What do you think is the most sinister, evil looking car ever built by Dodge? Here's a pic of my choice, 1959 Dodge Coronet.

I think that picture is a Custom Royal or Royal, not a Coronet. I had a 1959 Coronet for several years back in the early 1960s, it didn't have the emblem on the upper front fenders like shown on this car in the picture BTW, it was pink and white Not sinister at all to me
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

The site it was on had it listed as a 1959 Coronet Custom Royal, so you're most likely correct.

Part of the makeup of those older cars was personality. Every car was unique, today just a sea of silver and tan boxes. Every time Japan comes out with a new design its copy city. Chrysler has done pretty good with the 300 Charger and Challenger standing out in design and the Rams up until the current ones. There have always been a lot of cars that look similar over the decades but it is worse now. It was said once recently that a big part of it is the standards. When lights have to be a certain size, incorporate safety features, aerodynamics for fuel efficiency things start looking more and more similar.

Years before the 1970-1974 Challenger cemented the name with the car-buying public, the Challenger label was used, briefly, on a special promotional model of the Dodge Coronet. Introduced on May 1, 1959 to spice up the summer sales season, the Silver Challenger was offered only as a two-door Club Sedan, and as the name suggests, only in metallic silver paint.

As a kid folks had a 1959 Dodge Royal Sierra (Spectator?) Station Wagon. Very cool kid jump seats in the back and the rides home at night laying down in the back looking up through the sloping tailgate glass watching the stars swirl around corners was very awesome. Smoker dad set fire to the wiring under the dash once when the cig lighter was heating. As a kid sitting in the middle of the front seat, I was, "uuuuuuu, DAD!" as smoke then fire dripped toward my feet. Soon later it was replaced by a 1960 Thunderbird as the wiring issues were endless with that wagon. sinister, maybe not, hideous, yes. I also remember this. Push button automatic. Failed crossing the golden gate bridge travelling to grand ma's house on the peninsula. Failure mid span. Tow truck shows up and after getting quote dad says, "no-way" he fiddled with the buttons at the tow attendant watched on, somehow got it into reverse and he and family crossed traffic and slowly backed back to the Marin side parking area and awaited AAA.

I saw the title of this thread, and I'm totally on board - the fin era immediately came to my mind too. I even recall this photo I posted on my FB page after seeing it for sale on Hemmings. I posted "If the Devil had a choice of cars..".. yeah - the hardtop body, the fins, the grinning grille, and the black-on-red... saved this copy to my photo album.. . 9 passenger to carry all those souls he steals..
