Did Chrysler use a Holiday Date on the Fender Tag or BCS. An example holidays during the 1971 build. Good Friday or Easter Monday did the plant work on those days in 1971 April 9th, April 12th and did Chrysler put these dates on the fender tags even if there was no production. First did the UAW have these dates in their contract as holidays or maybe just one or those days.

This is a great question; something I've been curious about for years.

My Charger has a July 4 build date, but I had always assumed that the plant did not work that day (July 4 being a calculated "scheduled build date", not the date it was actually built). But who knows. IF they did work July 4, they got paid double or triple time for it, so it was costly production for Chrysler. But if you are backed up on orders, then maybe it's worth it.

Still, kinda cool have a July 4 birthday for my Charger! [Linked Image]

I had a set of "H" wheels that were dated July 4th 1968.

tI was one of the question or thoughts being tossed around while working on a friends car I found him. Since Easter is just around the corner we looked at April and then wondered about the Holiday in April. Good Friday would of been April 9th in 1971. So did a ton of searches and lots of Challenger built on April 8th 1971, have not come across a Barracuda yet. No VINs with a SPD of April 9, 10, 11, but found one on April 12th but might be a typo on the information. Found another VIN Hamtr. 355515 but could not find a SPD. This VIN likely would have been at this time. I know April was a weird time at Chrysler with things being used up like 1970 Shaker Hoods on 1971 Plymouth E Bodies, and other line work modifications. End of May there was more and all this has an effect on April. The build still is in batches of Dodges and Plymouths but I am not sure how big the batches were. I know from my own Challenger the batches were a lot smaller at the end of May and start of June.

So did the plant run one or two shifts, knowing this and how many were built on a shift then the mathematics can be done. Not all plants would of run overtime on a Holiday and maybe none of them did do to the UAW Contract.

So April 9th 1971 is Friday and April 11 1971 is Sunday. I was given information on a couple of cars and they seem to be built on April 9th 1971 on G/Friday or the SPD says that. No VINs on April 10th or April 11th but some VINS or SPDs on April 12th. So if you have an E Body built on 408 409 410 411 or 412 413 1971 could you please list it hear of send me a PM.

Thanks

Bear in mind that it was a Scheduled Production Date, not a birth certificate.
I would bet that many cars were built before or after their SPD, for a variety of reasons.
Stampings on parts are pretty certain to be the actual date made (or inspected), but generally those were vendors, so not necessarily dates an assembly plant was working.
I don't know if vendors were all UAW, but there may be a clue there.

The Idea of collecting this information is to see how many Vehicles were Sched. to be built on these dates and go from there. Gathering Vins and FT dates around this time will further a study on this. I am fully aware of SPD dates. I have a Challenger that has a May SPD date but a June Door sticker. I also know that Dodges at the end of May were running well after the Plymouth when being built,
