Transmission mount question ?

Every couple of years I seem to break one of the motor mounts in my 2wd 85 d300 std with a BB. when going in reverse up the hill.
So I'm replacing the 2 mounts with the diesel version. Truck weighs about 11,000 pounds with my ad ons.

But what about the manual transmission mount? Are the manual mounts beefier and different than the automatic trans mounts?
Do you know what the actual difference is?

AFAIK-they are the same for 727 or 435 4 speed.

what I have noticed is that the import made mounts are crap and most times the bolts/slot holes do not let the mount line up correctly and I have to elongate the holes or clip the edge and have only 1/2 of the washer clamping on the mount. I snap up old originals and they seem to fit perfect on my 85.

I have had same issues on my 85 d150 with a 435 & NV4500 off-roading and abusing it. on all of my street hot rods I use a torque strap on the front of engine to frame now and have not had any mounts let go since. made one up for the truck and have no issues with mounts breaking. I fashioned mine out of 2 of the auto trans to block support bars welded together to make it solid for first or reverse torque. I have it bolted to engine head solid and 2 upper shock bushings/bolt at the frame to reduce vibration. works rather well and does not let the engine torque over at all.

on my 88 440/727 d100 I beefed up the mounts with the poly mighty mounts on engine and a poly trans bushing. no torque strap needed so far.

I suggest looking for a older 'good used one or find a NOS one off flebay ect..

a good torque strap would be worth the effort 100% and can be cheap DIY projects. I have also used a eyeloop turn buckle from the hardware store more than once on the drag cars.
