I thought about this after coming home from MIR... Between Capitol 3 weeks ago and yesterday at MIR, I've seen a total of 3 A bodies, 0 B bodies and 0 E bodies. Modern Mopar stuff was pretty common between Chargers and Challengers, but that was it. There were a fair number of '60s-'70s GM cars, although they were track-only cars... none I recall that looked like typical(?) street / strip cars. Lots of late-model GM stuff and Mustangs, especially Fox-body race cars (which likely had LS engines in them). Is this a pattern about which I've been unaware since I've been absent from regular track attendance for so long? Perhaps I've been in a time warp by expecting other people with cars like my E body to still do this for fun. I'm gonna be driving a legit when I finally do roll in w/ my old Challenger.

Local track probably has 60-70 Mopars running every weekend

Including my car's front fender, there are 4 modern Challengers visible in line in this pic.

One of the 2 A bodies at MIR. I don't know the owner well, but he's owned it since I was street racing my '69 Super Bee in the early 1980s. It used to run Rallye wheels and always looked very low key. I don't know how fast it was back then, but he won a lot of races. Yesterday it was going 11.6s at 118 MPH.

Its almost the same where I race...There are a bunch of us that pic the track or event and all meet up. If we don't go, there is a lot less Mopars at the track. Most of us are racing A-bodies...I am the only idiot that still occasionally still races an E-body...There is usually at least 6 of us that will show up together and all pit near each other. There are a few other A-bodies running, but kinda like what you said, its not like years ago...And I am not a fan of most late models....Although a G5 Viper is really somthing.

I think it depends on where you are at. When we were in Ohio there were a number of Mopars at most tracks I went to. When in DC seemed like Mason Dixon had more than Capital or MIR, but maybe just the races I attended. Redding I only went to a couple NHRA divisonals. We certainly see a ton of old and new Mopars when we NMCA race. Out here in the west they are not very frequent. LVMS can be an exception to that as we have four families who field multple cars whenever they show up. But we are usually two of the 4 or so in S/Pro and certainly the only Mopar powered dragster we see.

There are 3 Darts that compete on a regular / weekly basis at my home track all in different classes: my 68 in Sportsman Eliminator, my trans builder / mentors sons B1 powered 68 in Super / Pro and another friends 440 powered 70 in Pro Eliminator other than us its mostly Chevies and a few Fords .. we hold our own though as I was track champ a few years ago as was my friend in the 70 Dart. I run occasionally at Atco Raceway in South Jersey and two of the " killer " drivers: Dave Harvey and his son both drive Mopars: a 68 Valiant and a 70 Duster

I don't find many people actually driving Musclecar Era stuff on the street at all....much less driving to a track, racing it, and driving it back home. Doesn't seem to matter what brand.
Usually when I see any kind of Mopar from the old era at a track, it arrived on a trailer. The nicer the car looks, the more likely it wasn't driven there.

Local track has lots of Mopars( Us131) …most years at Monster Mopar at Norwalk there are 400-500 muscle car era Mopar race cars. Some of the stuff guys are seeing is just the fact many tracks have closed and less guys are racing the weekly events. Too far to tow, etc, etc. But judging from the Moparty event in Bowling Green, the Mopar event in London Ky, etc, etc Mopars are as well represented as the extra wallet needed to race them( 60’s and 70’s stuff) would dictate. Always gonna be more GM and Fords around. I see them everywhere i go here in the midwest in healthy numbers. If anything, more now than 15 years ago

I think the proper emoticon for me re this topic is a smaller & older dinosaur riding on a bigger dinosaur.
Always one to go my own way; guess nothing has really changed.

"classic mopars" at the track? my '69 r/t is so slow i have to put a paper sack over my head when i get on it. ha ha, I know the feeling, my 71 Charger R/T gets it's doors blown off by everything under the sun nowadays! It's not perfectly tuned yet, but even when it is, it will still be one of the slower cars at an average Friday night test and tune. I pretty much see the same thing at my track, it's by and large modern stuff, and a good chunk of the older stuff is trailered and more strip than street. But I guess it makes sense: most guys with stock-ish/slow-ish cars are probably more interested in going to a show than the track, and the modern muscle is more appealing and more available to the kids and they like technology and the tuning with a computer etc, and then there's the more hardcore track guys who probably bought their muscle-era car a long time ago and have spent many years making it fast and it's easier and more comfortable to put it on a trailer and take it to the track.

Not a lot of anything from the 70's and earlier, GM, Ford, or Mopar. Man these things are getting 50 years old. Parts are scarcer. Rust can be an issue. Price of the body itself is high. G body's and Fox Mustangs out number anything in the "Vintage "world. And they are late 70's at the earliest. I still see a fair amount of Dusters and Darts. There were many built. The cost of the body is lower. Amazingly in our area there are quite a few Mopar's. 131, Mid Michigan, Ubly, Lapeer, and back again this year Milan. Mopar is by far the most popular in N/SS. Doug

On a normal T&T day, I'm usually the only old mopar there. Lots of the newer challengers and chargers. There aren't many old cars in general out there though. '80s models are usually about the oldest stuff you'll see...mustangs and camaros.
I was shocked to get next to a '71 Chevelle SS on the highway yesterday. Just don't see them out much anymore.
