I am sure this topic has been beaten hundreds of times but I gotta ask. What is a good cam for a 318? It is all stock and was thinking about getting this package from summit http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=CMB-03-0162&view=1&N=700+

After doing some reading I'm starting to think the Lunati cam might not be such a great idea? Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

That cam is at least a couple of steps too big for a stock compression 318 IMO. 670 Holleys are great carbs though.
I'd run the voodoo 60402 or comp XE262 personally. Maybe the XE268 if you put headers on it etc.

I run a voodoo roller cam 60710 in my trucks 88-360 headed 318

works very good for the street

watch the lunati springs they are doubles with a damper and need machine work and seal

I went with the comp 901-16 and stock seals/retainers/locks/rockers/push rods/roller lifters

I put the small summit in the kids 318 and had one in my truck. Both ran good not power houses but better than stock.Had the big summit in the 318 in the 66 Charger. It worked well even with a crappy StreetMaster intake.Rocky

I'd actually drop down 1 more notch--XE256 or voodoo 60401.

I used to run that cam in a 318 and it was fine, if it's an auto put a converter in that will footbrake 2,5-800 and if it's a 904 run a low gear set and 3.91's if it's a std 904 or 727 run 4.30's.

It likes to be shifted at 6,200 and would run 81-82 mph in the 1/8 in an A body,

Could you point me in the direction as to where I could get a good set?

with the price of these I don't know if I'd bother with a used set that needs to be rebuilt....
