There have been a lot of Dodge Chargers and challenger wreaks in the news lately, there was one in Las Vegas that took the life's of seven people.

I've read about a "game" played among some IDIOTS with V8 Challengers where they will cruise red lights at super high speed - like 130 MPH+. It's a young, tough guy thing. Dumbassness beyond comprehension.

Sounds like a "Fast and Furious" disease.

Though there's a ton of Mustang jokes about getting sideways and hitting curbs leaving Cars and Coffee, the Challenger/Charger crowd causes more than their share of carnage. That's based on personal observations/experience, friends who are LEO's, and comments I've read from other first responders.

Come to think of it, I can't recall the last time I aw a Vette exceeding the speed limit, even on the Interstate.

Big power - in the hands of those unfamiliar, or lacking talent and/or judgement - applied heavily in the wrong location, can be spectacular for all the wrong reasons.
A buddy of mine used to say "the throttle giveth, and the throttle taketh away"...

I work as a paramedic and see a lot of high speed Charger and Challenger wrecks and PD pursuits.

Last summer one guy had just picked up his Charger Hellcat and punched it pulling out of a 7-11. Made it about 600 feet before a large oak tree stopped him. No injuries. Car had 23 miles on it.

A local Twitter account run by first responders monitors emergency scanners and tweets out what's going on. Plenty of times, they'll tweet about a bad wreck or a police chase, and they'll note "Challenger (or Charger)...again."

In my area and I imagine other areas of the country, Challengers, Chargers, Durango’s and Jeep Cherokees are top of the list of the gangbangers favorite rides.
Mostly carjacked or stolen off dealer lots, driven hard and fast until wrecked, or abandoned after doing a drive by, then they run off and soon steal another one.
The local state’s attorney releases them almost immediately after arrest on the rare occasion they get caught, so it’s all great fun with little risk of consequence for them.

Same type of 'hold my beer' driving that slowly eliminated all those 5.0 Mustangs and IROC/Z-28 cars in the 80's and 90's is occurring now with the current SRT cars. They are not rare now, but finding a nice un-wrecked one years from now may not be easy.

I still think a majority of Challengers and Chargers sold since 2008 were sold to middle aged upper middle class guys who park them in garages and usually don’t drive them any more aggressively than a 75 year old lady drives her Buick to church or to the doctors. There no doubt are 10s of thousands of them parked in garages as we speak in mint original condition. There will be many mint examples available to buy for as long as gas can be bought to fuel them.
It’s only in recent years these cars have started to appeal to a younger demographic is my observation.
