i have a crazzy idea. i have a 3.8 v-6 thats supercharged. i can easily get another one. the idea is to run 2 side by side on my 440. i'd have to fab the intake manifold witch shouldnt be a problem. i'd need custom carb mounts and a trick pulley system as well. sounds pretty crazzy but who no's. theres a bit i don't no. what size carbs, single or dual plenum. i have no idea how much boost one of them will give. also how much boost can you put on 68 h.p. cast pistons. it would take alot of work but being able to fab and machine my own stuff might not cost to much.i'm not looking for crazzy power moreless looking to prove to a ford guy it can be done. please give me some feed back. thanks

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

Not much...

Any motor with boost needs forged pistons.

well I can tell you that you can run 8psi w/o a cooler if you have enough fuel, but if you don't they burn up about 3/4 track. ask me how I know. You'd be better off buying a S/C set-up off of 'bay and modifing it for your BB mopar. The 2 3.8's are cheap enough but they are pushers so you will have to add the carb after boost. It wil be a MoFo to get all that under a hood and make all the supports.

Yeah and to top it all off, the twin 3.8 superchargers on a V8 idea has already been done. By a ford mustang guy. Pics are floating around on the net somewhere. Was not visually appealing and I think afterwards the guy eventually swapped it off in favor of a single centrifugal s/c.

Or you could stack two 6:71 and be a fair ground terror.

Not sure how much boost a cast piston will withstand but Mopar cast pistons are as tough as they come. I've beat some of the old original ones to death & not lost one yet. Do what you gotta do Ken

here's my home made S/C'd 440. I burned #3 up (cast speed pros) when I forgot to turn on the electric pump (ran mech and elec) other than that it wasn't bad at all. ran great, had zero driving problems. Ran 12.0's drove to the track and home. That was on 5.5lbs of boost. I did put and 8 lb pulley on but sold it before I could run it all out. But it would have been in the 11's easy. not bad considering it was a 9:1 440 w/ a Summit 488 cam, stock 906 heads, RPm intake Holley 750DP and headers.
